Da Nang will aim to build the first "data city" in Vietnam.

That is the information proposed by the National Data Association at a working session with the Danang Center for Supporting Innovative Startups (Department of Science and Technology) and representatives of support organizations and startup businesses in the city, held on September 8.

At the working session, the two sides discussed difficulties related to data management institutions and the need to improve the legal framework to promote the exploitation, sharing and application of data in practice.

The representative of the National Data Association emphasized that the role of the Association does not stop at consulting on data policies and laws, but also aims to create data management products and build a data industry large enough to become a driving force for national development.

A key content proposed by the Association is to propose building a national data model and a data city based on important data pillars such as: tourism, logistics, healthcare, finance, public administration, education ... and orienting development according to the strengths of each locality.

The Association has the basic technology and wishes to cooperate with Da Nang as the first pilot site to deploy this model, aiming to develop Da Nang into the first "Data City" in the country.

In addition, the National Data Association also plans to set up a large incubator in Da Nang and implement many seminars and events. Thereby, creating a favorable environment for the startup community to exploit data values, develop products and services with high applicability.

Mr. Vo Duc Anh, Deputy Director of the Danang Center for Supporting Innovation and Startups, emphasized that the city is always a pioneer in testing new technologies. Currently, Danang has a sandbox mechanism for startups and is implementing the construction of a financial center.

However, for the startup community to develop more strongly, there needs to be early regulations on startup visas, along with a support mechanism to bring products to the international market. The city is also researching new policies to facilitate businesses to expand connections and develop global business.

At the meeting, business representatives made suggestions such as: there should be a transparent and synchronous data sharing mechanism between state agencies and businesses; building a management system for official data sources, including data on healthcare , tourism, education, etc. to support startups in searching and conducting in-depth research on the market in each region.

Thanks to that, startups can accurately grasp the actual situation and propose suitable and feasible solutions for specific problems.
