As of the afternoon of May 15, a survey on Thanh Nien Online showed that 54% of readers supported the option "the most severe form of discipline should still be expulsion if students violate discipline". Only 3% of readers chose the option "students should not be disciplined by expelling them".
With the option "Should not expel students, but should send students who violate discipline to do community service, clean public toilets. Acts of school violence, depending on the severity, should be handled according to the law", 43% of people chose.

12th grade student: "If there is a disciplinary violation, just being reprimanded, criticized, and writing a self-criticism is too lenient."
On May 15, sharing with Thanh Nien Newspaper reporter, student D.CT, grade 12 student at a high school in Binh Thanh district, Ho Chi Minh City said that he personally still thinks that the form of expulsion for students who violate serious discipline should not be abolished.
"If a student has violated discipline to the point of being expelled, it means that he or she has violated it many times, seriously, and affected many other students. Therefore, if a student violates seriously and is only reprimanded, criticized, or written a self-criticism, it is too light and over time will lead to "immunity", callousness, the student is no longer afraid and continues to violate", student D.CT said.

This 12th grader also said that he had witnessed students who violated discipline, were suspended from school for a period of time and then dropped out of school. However, D.CT said that it was not because of being suspended or expelled that this student became discouraged and dropped out of school. According to CT, students who do not have the will to try, do not have the determination to overcome difficulties in studying, and do not find a good ideal in life, will one day drop out of school - even though everyone around them has tried their best to advise and encourage them.
Therefore, a 12th grade male student in Ho Chi Minh City believes that the Ministry of Education and Training should not abolish the form of expulsion - suspension of study for students who violate serious discipline. However, the suspension period should be short, about 1-2 weeks, enough for the student to have time to reflect on what he has done, showing responsibility for what he has caused.
During this suspension period, according to the President, the student should be allowed to meet teachers and good students to share, talk gently, advise, and "use a soft rope to tie tightly" so that the student can gradually understand. Family members should not be too hot-tempered, yell, or scold the student, as this will have the opposite effect.
Readers: Please consider carefully.
Reader luubinh commented on the draft to abolish the form of expulsion for students who violate discipline of the Ministry of Education and Training: "We need to consider carefully. If sympathizing with a student with a bad personality, or a bad one, accidentally harms many good and gentle students, is that humanity worth it? When I was a student, I witnessed many gentle students having to drop out of school because of bad students. Tolerating evil will harm many good people."

Account emgaimientay2772022 said: "In the case of a student who beats a friend, is invited to the supervisor's office to clean up the school yard for a week, but as soon as he gets to class, he takes a chair and hits his friend in the head. So in this case, should we tell him to write another self-criticism? Or continue to advise him?"
A new reader shared: "Students nowadays fight, even using weapons. Can just writing a self-criticismeducate them? Not to mention many students systematically violate the law and repeat the offense many times."
Reader Hoang said: "I think the law should be applied when students commit serious violations such as: fighting, physically or mentally abusing others... Instead of just ignoring them and criticizing them. Students today mature early, unlike in the past, due to the influence of information on the internet. They even know that those under 18 are not criminally responsible at the highest level, leading to many recent crimes committed by children under 18."
Reader kiet anhvo expressed his opinion: "Should we think about opening a reform school for problem students in each province and city, jointly managed by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of National Defense ? Problem children are not inherently bad people, it is just the family and social circumstances that create such children. A reform school is a place to separate children from social pressure, love them and give them what they should have; at that time, it would be strange if the children were still problem children."
The vast majority of students chose "still expel if student commits serious violations"
During a sideline survey of my high school students in Ho Chi Minh City (2 classes, about 100 students), I found that more than half of the opinions said that expulsion should still be applied to students who committed serious violations. However, they suggested that the suspension period should be a few days, not too long. Only about 20% of the students surveyed said that expulsion should be abolished, for humanitarian reasons.
Student M.Nghi thinks that students who violate the rules should still be expelled (suspended from school), but the expulsion period should be 1 or several weeks. Because if after many warnings the student does not change, it will have a negative impact not only on the student himself but also on other students, the class, and the school, so expulsion will be a stronger, more drastic solution.
None of my students support disciplining students by writing self-criticism. LBTMy stated: "If writing self-criticism is the highest level of discipline, students will easily become "insensitive" and will not have enough deterrence."
I realize that for the sake of all students' right to study, they all want a healthy learning environment. But also because they love their friends, sympathize with their friends' right to study, and fear that their friends will fall further when they are suspended from school... most students want the school and the education sector to have a reasonable solution. This solution must not be too gentle but also not too rigid or harsh. It must be strong enough to deter and must harmonize the interests of the individual student who violates the law and the interests of the other students in the class and in the school.
From the students' perspective, the solutions they propose are to strengthen the role of psychological counseling, promote the role of the relationship between school and family, arrange for students to do community service, and even put those problem students in highly disciplined environments to be educated...
