Fisheries surveillance ship 467 approached the fishermen in distress after the sinking in Truong Sa, then took them aboard a ship to the mainland. The Coast Guard also approached to provide medical assistance to the fishermen.

On October 19, information from the Quang Nam Provincial Border Guard Command said that the fishing boat KN 467 approached and brought the fishermen of two sinkings in the Truong Sa waters ashore.
Specifically, at 10:30 p.m. on October 18, the fishing control ship KN 467 (under the Naval Region 4 Command) approached the ship QNa 90039 captained by fisherman Luong Van Cam. This ship rescued 40 fishermen and recovered 2 bodies of the squid fishing boat QNa 90129 that sank on the evening of October 16.
The fisheries control force received 40 fishermen and 2 bodies from the QNa 90129 ship and brought them aboard to return to the mainland.
The fishing control ship then continued to move to the location of ship QNa 91782 (the ship that rescued 38 crew members of the sunken ship QNa 90927) to receive these crew members. The ship is expected to move to Quang Nam tomorrow afternoon.

According to Tuoi Tre Newspaper: At 7:30 p.m. on October 16, the squid fishing boat QNa 90129 with 54 workers was operating about 70 nautical miles north-northeast of Song Tu Tay Island, Truong Sa archipelago when a tornado and waves sank the boat. 40 fishermen were rescued, 2 died, and 12 others are missing.
Another fishing boat, QNa 90927, was also sunk by waves at 1:00 a.m. on October 17, about 135 nautical miles north-northwest of Song Tu Tay Island. 38 crew members on the fishing boat were rescued, one person is missing. Thus, 13 fishermen from these two boats are still missing at sea.
