The opening act was the performance “The Party flag shines forever in the border area” performed by a group of actors. The performance was clearly political and emotional, praising the Party’s leadership role and the changes in Lai Chau on the journey of developing the border area. The atmosphere at the Square became solemn and sacred. This was also considered a performance to welcome the success of the 15th Lai Chau Provincial Party Congress and towards the 14th National Congress.
Through the Tourism - Culture Week and Lai Chau Marathon 2025, the province aims to introduce the image of a land rich in potential and identity and invite businesses, investors, and travel enthusiasts to learn and cooperate. The goal is to turn tourism into a spearhead economic sector, contributing to creating sustainable livelihoods for local people.
In his opening speech, Mr. Tong Thanh Hai, Standing Vice Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized that Lai Chau is the land of the upper Da River with majestic landscapes, converging "strange mountains, beautiful waters, and fairy caves". The province is proud to have many mountains over 3,000 m high, along with a system of caves, waterfalls and cultural identities of 20 ethnic groups. He also mentioned the historical value of the place where King Le Loi once wrote poems on the Pu Huoi Cho cliff, leaving the National Treasure "Hoai Lai Ancient Stele".
Mr. Hai said that, clearly aware of the value of nature and culture, the province has oriented tourism development as a key economic sector. Up to now, Lai Chau has formed 25 tourist areas and spots and maintained 3 annual provincial festivals. Many key tourism products have been branded, such as Sin Suoi Ho community tourism village, ASEAN destinations and Marathon routes to conquer the clouds. The province is making efforts to preserve and reasonably exploit historical, cultural and natural resource values; at the same time, improve the investment environment, calling on domestic and foreign enterprises to survey and invest in tourism development.
The art program took place in three distinct parts: “Lai Chau - the legendary land”, “Lai Chau - the symphony of colors” and “Lai Chau - the aspiration to reach far”. Each chapter is a vivid slice, recreating the natural beauty, cultural depth and development aspiration of Lai Chau. Music, light and choreography blend together to help the audience travel from the fairyland of the mountains and forests, through the colors of the ethnic groups, to the aspiration for innovation of the province in the far west of the Fatherland.
The traditional ceremony and art performance ended with a vibrant DJ performance by singer Quoc Vuong and DJ Mr. Timo Nguyen. The performance had a youthful, modern atmosphere, connecting tradition with contemporary life and igniting the festival spirit at the Provincial People's Square.
Within the framework of the Tourism - Culture Week and the 2nd Lai Chau Marathon, visitors will experience many activities: display, performance and cultural exchange of ethnic communities; enjoy highland cuisine; visit OCOP products such as ginseng, tea, orchids; admire the photography exhibition on Lai Chau tourism; and participate in the Famtrip "Discovering Nam Luc Waterfall". The program also includes cultural exchange activities between Vietnam and China and the Marathon with the theme "Call of the great forest, footsteps of aspiration".
Tourism Week and Marathon are not only an opportunity to perform and promote tourism products. This is also a forum for the province to introduce its potential, call for investment, affirm its efforts to develop sustainable tourism, and link cultural preservation with local economic development.
