Some schools are increasing their early acceptance rates, reflecting flexibility in their admissions strategies, while others are decreasing their acceptance rates, reflecting the increasingly fierce competition in the Americaneducation system.
Yale University, in particular, is one of the schools that has seen a significant increase in its early admission rate. This year, the school’s acceptance rate increased from 9% to 10.8%, with 728 students accepted out of a total of 6,729 applications. This is a positive step forward, contributing to reducing the competitive pressure for early applicants.
Similarly, Brown University also saw its early acceptance rate increase by 4% to 18%. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) - one of the most prestigious engineering schools in the world - also increased its early acceptance rate from 5% to 6%, with 721 students accepted out of 12,053 applicants.
The University of Virginia also showed a slight improvement, with its early acceptance rate rising from 25% to 26%.
Although some schools have seen an increase in acceptance rates, not all have followed this trend.
Harvard University - one of the Ivy League schools - remains very competitive. Specifically, this year's early acceptance rate is 7.56%, down from previous years.
Duke University, a top research school, saw its early admission rate drop to a record low of 12.9%, with just 806 students accepted out of 6,240 applicants.
According to experts, the changes in early admission rates reflect the ever-increasing competition for admission to top universities in the US. Some schools increase their acceptance rates to attract more potential applicants, while others maintain stricter admission criteria to maintain the quality of education.
In this context, experts recommend that students prepare their applications more thoroughly than ever, including maintaining a high GPA, participating in meaningful extracurricular activities, and most importantly, writing essays that clearly demonstrate their personality, passion, and uniqueness.
This will help you increase your chances of getting into your dream school and better prepare for your future studies and career.
