Determining the main referee for the match between Vietnam and Nepal

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has announced the list of supervisors and referees for the match between Vietnam and Nepal in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.

On the afternoon of September 22, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced the list of supervisors and referees to officiate the second leg of Group F of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup between Nepal and the Vietnamese team, on October 14 at Thong Nhat Stadium.

This is the match that the Nepal team chose Thong Nhat Stadium as their home ground due to the unstable situation in this country.

Accordingly, AFC has assigned a Bahraini referee team. Mr. Mohamed Deham is the main referee. The two assistant referees are Salman Mohamed Talasi and Salah Janahi. The fourth referee is Mr. Ahmed Saad.

The referee supervisor is Mr. Saleh Al Marzouqi (UAE), and the match supervisor is Mr. Richard Joson (Philippines).

Referee Mohamed Deham, recognized as a FIFA referee since 2021 and regularly officiates at tournaments organized by AFC.

In the 2024-2025 season, Mr. Mohamed Deham will officiate matches in the AFC Champions League Two and the continental qualifiers. Notably, he was assigned as the fourth referee in the 2024-2025 AFC Champions League Two final.

Most recently, Mr. Mohamed Deham was the main referee for the match between U23 Bhutan and U23 Turkmenistan in the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers on September 6.

Previously, AFC also announced the list of supervisors and referees to officiate the first leg of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup between Vietnam and Nepal at Binh Duong Stadium on October 9.

Accordingly, the Korean referee team will be in charge of this match. The main referee is Mr. Choi Hyun Jai. The two assistant referees are Bang Gi Yoel and Cheon Jin Hee. The fourth referee is Mr. Chae Sang Hyeop.

The referee supervisor is Mr. Tang Yew Mun (Singapore). The match supervisor is Mr. Wang Xiao (China).

Referee Choi Hyun Jai often referees in the K-League and is chosen to officiate international matches in the U23 Asian qualifiers or SEA Games.

Most recently, Mr. Choi Hyun Jai was the fourth referee in the match between the Vietnam U23 team and Yemen in the 2026 U23 Asia qualifiers at Viet Tri Stadium on September 9.

The Vietnamese team is currently ranked second in Group F with 3 points after 2 matches, 3 points behind the leading team Malaysia.

The two matches against the bottom team Nepal are an opportunity for coach Kim Sang Sik and his team to win and continue chasing Malaysia for the top spot in the group and a ticket to the final round.
