Buddha's Birthday 2569: Call for building a united and tolerant society

On the morning of May 12 (April 15, At Ty year) at Vietnam Quoc Tu (District 10, Ho Chi Minh City), the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha coordinated with the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Ho Chi Minh City to organize the Great Buddha's Birthday Celebration, Buddhist calendar 2569 - Gregorian calendar 2025.

Attending the Buddha's Birthday Ceremony on Buddhist calendar 2569 - Gregorian calendar 2025 were comrades: Nguyen Thi Le, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairwoman of the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City; Nguyen Manh Cuong, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Propaganda and Education Committee of the City Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Nguyen Thanh Trung, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

On the side of the Sangha, Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang, Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Council; Thich Thien Nhon, Deputy Supreme Patriarch of the Supreme Patriarchate, Chairman of the Central Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; Most Venerable Thich Duc Nghiep, Deputy Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Council; Most Venerable Thich Thien Phap, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Council; Most Venerable Thich Le Trang, Permanent Member of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Council, Head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Ho Chi Minh City and thousands of monks, nuns and Buddhists attended.

Conveying the message of the 2569th Buddha's Birthday, Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang, Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, emphasized that the philosophy of solidarity and tolerance of Buddhism has contributed to creating the identity and spiritual strength of great national solidarity, contributing to deepening the spirit of patriotism, the culture of love, the healthy leaves covering the torn leaves... The Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha called on every Buddhist to always diligently practice, spread love, and light up the world with the light of tolerance and wisdom.

“I wish all Buddhists in the world to unite, be harmonious and actively work with humanity to build a truly peaceful and happy world,” Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang encouraged.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Manh Cuong, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, sent his best wishes to all Buddhist monks and nuns and all Buddhist followers for a Buddha's Birthday filled with joy and peace, and to continue to contribute with the Party Committee, government and people of the City to build Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country into a new era of development for the country and the nation.

Ho Chi Minh City always identifies that building and promoting the great national unity bloc, including close ties with religious organizations in general and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in particular, is an important factor to maintain stability, sustainable development and improve the quality of people's material and spiritual life. The city will continue to accompany and create favorable conditions for religious activities, build a civilized and healthy religious living environment, contributing to strengthening beliefs and promoting the spirit of "good life, good religion".

At the ceremony, Most Venerable Thich Le Trang, Standing Member of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed his honor that Vietnam hosted the 4th United Nations Vesak Festival 2025 and successfully organized it in Ho Chi Minh City from May 6 to 8, leaving a deep impression on the delegates attending, especially international friends.

The theme of this year's Vesak is "Solidarity and Tolerance for Human Dignity: Buddhist Wisdom for World Peace and Sustainable Development" which is a more urgent message than ever, carrying a humane, profound and contemporary meaning that the Buddhist community wants to send to the whole world.

On this occasion, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Ho Chi Minh City presented 1 billion VND to the "For the Poor" Fund in Ho Chi Minh City and 1 billion VND to the "For the Homeland's Seas and Islands - For the Frontline of the Fatherland" Fund in Ho Chi Minh City.
