By the afternoon and evening of May 21, rain in these two areas will tend to increase in intensity, with common rainfall of 20-40mm, with some places experiencing heavy rain of over 70mm.

In the North, on the evening of May 20 and on May 21, the weather will continue to have showers and localized thunderstorms. From the night of May 22 to May 24, this area is forecast to experience widespread heavy rain with total rainfall ranging from 70-150mm, some places may record very heavy rain, exceeding 250mm.

Risk of flash floods, landslides and localized flooding, especially in areas with steep terrain, poor permeability and inadequate drainage systems.

From the evening and night of May 23 to the night of May 24, the North Central region may experience moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing very heavy rain, with total rainfall ranging from 40-100mm, and over 150mm in some places.

Some places are at risk of heavy rain, exceeding 80mm in just 3 hours. This intensity of rain can cause rapid flooding, flash floods and seriously affect people's lives.

During thunderstorms, beware of dangerous weather phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds.

In the next 24-48 hours, the Central region will be mainly affected by heat waves. From May 21-22, the area from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen will experience heat waves, some places will be extremely hot, the highest temperature will range from 35-37 °C, some places will exceed 37 °C.

Prolonged heat has a major impact on people’s health, especially outdoor workers, the elderly and children. In addition, the risk of explosions and forest fires in the central provinces has also increased due to high temperatures combined with low humidity.

From May 23, the widespread heat in this area tends to gradually ease.
