As for the activities of inviting, enshrining and worshipping the relics of Bodhisattva Thich Quang Duc's heart at Vietnam National Temple (District 10), as previously announced by the press release of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, they will be temporarily postponed.
Specifically, the opening ceremony to worship Buddha's relics - India's National Treasure - took place at 6:00 a.m. on May 3 at Thanh Tam Pagoda, Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City.
Also on the morning of May 3, the opening ceremony of the Buddhist Fine Arts Exhibition, displaying national treasures of Buddhist products and the Food Festival took place at Lang Le Cultural Park, Binh Chanh District.
That same evening, an art program serving the public with reformed art about the life of Buddha was held at Lang Le Cultural Park.
The Organizing Committee of the 2025 UN Vesak Festival announced: "Because the conditions are not yet ripe, the invitation and worship of the Heart Relic of Bodhisattva Thich Quang Duc to the Vietnam National Temple according to the 2025 UN Vesak Festival Project will not take place on the morning of May 3". The time for the invitation, enshrinement and worship of the Heart Relic of Bodhisattva Thich Quang Duc at the Vietnam National Temple will be announced when there are new developments.
Within the framework of the 2025 UN Vesak Festival, in addition to the official program, from May 3, activities such as the Great Ceremony to commemorate heroic martyrs on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day; the international flower lantern festival to pray for national peace and prosperity, world peace; the international Buddhist art performance night; Buddhist cultural exhibition; traditional Buddha bathing ceremony; Buddhist flag raising ceremony... will also be held.
The 20th UN Vesak Celebration in 2025, hosted by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha from May 6-8 in Ho Chi Minh City, is an extremely meaningful international cultural diplomacy event of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and of Vietnam in 2025.
