In a speech on May 4, Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov criticized Ukraine for "acts of terrorism" after two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) exploded above the Kremlin on the evening of May 3.

According to Ambassador Anatoly Antonov, Russia will carry out retaliatory attacks against Ukraine after learning more about the attack, as well as the threat Kiev poses to Moscow's leadership.

"Russia will certainly respond to this terrorist attack. We will respond as soon as we feel it is appropriate. The response will be based on the assessment of the threat that Kiev poses to the Russian leadership," Mr. Antonov said.

Ambassador Antonov also criticized the US for covering up Ukraine's offensive actions.

"How would Americans react if a UAV attacked the White House, the Capitol or the Pentagon? The answer is really clear to any politician or ordinary citizen: a decisive and decisive retaliation," Mr. Antonov said.

Russia's ambassador to the US accused Ukraine of timing its attack right before the Victory Day parade on May 9.

"The timing of this attack was carefully calculated to take place right before the Victory Day parade on May 9, an event with the participation of many international guests," Ambassador Antonov added.

Asked about Russia's reaction to the hypothesis that the attack on May 3 was carried out by domestic resistance forces, Ambassador Antonov affirmed that it was false information.

"This is a false argument. No Russian wants to stage an attack on the nerve center of the country," Mr. Antonov stressed.

The US State Department has not yet commented on Ambassador Antonov's statement.

On the evening of May 3, local time, two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) exploded after crashing into the Kremlin, the headquarters of the Russian government and the residence of President Vladimir Putin. The Russian President's office later accused Ukraine of conducting a raid on the Kremlin with the aim of assassinating Mr. Putin.

Immediately after the attack on the Kremlin, many high-ranking Russian officials, including Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin and Deputy Chairman of the Federal Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, called on the country's military to carry out retaliatory attacks against Ukraine.

On the Ukrainian side, President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is on a tour of European countries, has rejected all of Russia's accusations against Ukraine.

"We are not attacking Mr. Putin or Mr. Moscow. We are only fighting for our territory. You know, we do not have enough weapons for this either," Mr. Zelensky stressed during a visit to Finland.
