On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the Vietnamese Embassy in Sweden solemnly held a press conference and screening of propaganda films in the capital Stockholm.
The event was organized to widely disseminate the historical significance and significance of the resistance war against the US to save the country and the Great Spring Victory in 1975 - an important milestone ending the war, bringing the country into an era of unification and development. At the same time, the program contributed to strengthening people's confidence in the cause of innovation, industrialization, modernization and international integration under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam .
This is also an opportunity toeducate the tradition of "remembering the source of water when drinking water", to show gratitude for the great sacrifices and contributions of heroic martyrs, comrades and compatriots in the struggle for independence, freedom and national construction.

The ceremony was attended by many Swedish and Vietnamese guests, including Mr. Robert Rydberg, former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden; Mr. Daniel Wolven, Director of the Department for Asia-Pacific and Latin America; Mr. Erik Anderson, Secretary for International Affairs of the Swedish Communist Party and reporter for the Swedish Proletarian newspaper.
In addition, there were also representatives of the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, local agencies, organizations, and localities, Swedish experts who have worked in Vietnam, and a large number of overseas Vietnamese, students, researchers, and Vietnamese workers in Sweden.

Speaking at the press conference, Ambassador Tran Van Tuan reviewed the historical context before 1975, the developments of the Great Spring Victory, the role of diplomacy in the historic victory and the great achievements of the country over the past 50 years, which are important foundations for the period of strong development of the Vietnamese people in the 21st century - the era of national growth.
The program also included an exchange and sharing of thoughts by Swedish experts and friends who shared and evaluated the support of the Swedish Government and people for Vietnam during the war as well as the post-war reconstruction period, especially the great successes that the Vietnamese Government and people have achieved in recent times.

The event concluded with the screening of the documentary “Memory Fragment” produced by Vietnam Television (VTV4). The film realistically depicts the sacrifices, contributions and resilience of previous generations in the cause of national liberation and reunification. The work also conveys a humane message of tolerance and reconciliation between veterans and the younger generation on both sides after the devastating war.
The event is an opportunity to further strengthen the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Sweden, while spreading historical values and patriotism to international friends and the Vietnamese community abroad.
