On April 16, the leader of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Nong province said that in early April 2025, an outbreak of African swine fever appeared in Dak Lao commune, Dak Mil district. 57 pigs, with a total weight of more than 1,600 kg, were infected and had to be destroyed.

Immediately after detecting the outbreak, functional agencies and local authorities quickly took action, isolated the area, disinfected, and implemented epidemic control measures in accordance with regulations.
To date, the outbreak has been contained, with no new cases reported. This is the first recorded outbreak of African swine fever in Dak Nong in 2025.
Faced with the above developments, the People's Committee of Dak Nong province issued Official Dispatch No. 2157 directing departments, branches and localities to resolutely and synchronously deploy solutions to prevent and control livestock and poultry diseases.
In particular, the Department of Agriculture and Environment is assigned to be the focal point for directing, inspecting, monitoring, early detecting and thoroughly handling outbreaks, preventing the disease from spreading widely.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment prepares adequate supplies, chemicals, and vaccines to promptly distribute to localities to organize vaccination and disinfection across the province.
Animal quarantine checkpoints continue to strengthen inspections and strictly handle violations of regulations on animal transportation and trading.
The Provincial People's Committee emphasized the need to absolutely not be subjective in disease prevention and control, especially with dangerous infectious diseases such as African swine fever, avian influenza, lumpy skin disease and rabies.
