Ensuring progress and quality of the 2025 Rural and Agricultural Census

This morning (May 19), in Cua Lo - Vinh City, the General Statistics Office - Ministry of Finance organized a Training Conference on the 2025 Rural and Agricultural Census for statistical officers of 62 provinces and cities nationwide.

Attending and directing the conference were comrade Nguyen Thi Huong - Director of the General Statistics Office; together with leaders of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Ministry of Agriculture and Environment; Ministry of Public Security ; Vietnam Cooperative Alliance. Improve professional skills of statistical staff

During the 3 days, delegates will hear about the plan for the 2025 General Census of Agriculture and Rural Areas; be equipped with knowledge and skills to serve the work of the general census of rural areas and agriculture such as: Professional skills and use of commune questionnaire software; Instructions for collecting information on household list forms and direct interviews using mobile devices (CAPI); instructions on using the general census management website, the monitoring and information collection website, etc.

The conference was held to improve the skills of statistical officers in the process of conducting rural and agricultural surveys; ensuring consistency, accuracy and efficiency in the implementation process. This is also an opportunity for statistical officers nationwide to exchange, unify professional skills, and share experiences to effectively implement the 2025 Rural and Agricultural Census.

Clearly defining the significance and role of the survey, the People's Committee of Nghe An province established a Provincial Steering Committee for the General Census, assigned specific tasks, and directed the Provincial Statistics Office to coordinate with departments, branches, and localities to implement the steps in accordance with the plan of the Central Steering Committee.

By May 16, 2025, Nghe An had established a survey list of more than 572,000 households, reaching 71% of the plan - a result that demonstrates the efforts of the entire system in the initial phase; in the condition that the province has the largest natural area in the country, a large population, with more than 70% of the population living in rural areas; while the survey time coincided with the time of conversion of the district-level government organization model, creating certain difficulties in directing, coordinating and implementing operations.

Ensure correct plan, progress and quality

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De said: Nghe An will focus on completing the list of surveyed households and agricultural, forestry and fishery production units across the province before May 30, 2025; organize the official survey from July 1, 2025, ensuring the correct plan, progress and quality according to the direction of the Central Steering Committee.

In order for the census to be completed successfully and on schedule, the province will select and train more than 5,200 investigators and more than 180 supervisors, who are knowledgeable about the area, good at using technology and have a firm grasp of the profession. At the same time, it will step up propaganda and mobilize people to cooperate in providing information, through the grassroots media system and socio-political organizations such as the Farmers' Association, Women's Union, Youth Union, etc.

“We will closely monitor, check and verify information during the investigation process, in order to improve the reliability and objectivity of the collected data. Synthesize, analyze and evaluate preliminary results in the fourth quarter of 2025 and announce official results in the first quarter of 2026. The province will create all necessary conditions, mobilize the entire political system to participate, ensure adequate facilities, equipment, transmission lines, and investigation software to effectively serve the entire investigation process, "Ensure the progress and quality of the investigation in the province ," the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed.

The 2025 Rural and Agricultural Census is a large-scale statistical survey of special significance in providing comprehensive information on the current status of rural and agricultural development and rural people's lives. This is an important basis for all levels and sectors to formulate policies and strategies for agricultural and rural development in accordance with the requirements of socio-economic development in the new period.
