Flooding has also forced many families to abandon their homes and move to the center of Bien Hoa city to rent accommodation. Currently, the island has nearly 10 abandoned houses, partly due to the roofs being blown off or collapsed before they were old.

According to the People's Committee of Long Binh Tan ward, from 100 households before 2017, currently Ba Xe island has about 84 households living.

Mr. Do Khoi Nguyen, Chairman of Bien Hoa City People's Committee, said the project encountered problems with planning and land law, waiting for the authorities to resolve them according to the correct procedures. Meanwhile, a leader of Dong Nai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said the project investor is currently implementing site clearance.
