Fairy tale film beauties after 20 years: How are Dieu Ai and Thuy Loan "in hiding" now?

Vietnamese Fairy Tales is a series of films produced by Phuong Nam Film Studio, first released in 1993, based on familiar fairy tales such as "The Clever Boy", "The Legend of the Wild Boar", "The Stone Saint Ly Thong"...

This was one of the biggest hits of the 90s, loved by children and adults alike and was regularly re-aired every summer. When it was released on DVD, it also sold well at the music stores.

Dieu Ai was born in 1972 and had a chance to work in cinema after the Art Stars contest held at Hoa Binh Theater (HCMC) in 1993.

Thanks to her photogenic face, Dieu Ai "caught the eye" of many famous directors and had her first role in Vietnamese Fairy Tales (the film Who Buys My Onions). She left an impression on the audience with her feminine beauty and long, flowing hair.

After the success of Vietnamese Fairy Tales, Dieu Ai appeared in a series of films: Tears of the Wanderer, The Stubborn Schoolgirl...

In the 1990s, Dieu Ai was one of the sought-after photo models, alongside Diem Huong, Viet Trinh... At that time, Dieu Ai and Thai San often appeared together in spring photo shoots and were loved by a large audience.

After the "instant noodle" film market declined, Dieu Ai gradually withdrew from the screen. To date, she has retired for more than 20 years. Information and images about the actress's private life are also very limited.

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, actor Ly Hung said he once collaborated with Dieu Ai in the movie Nu Sinh Quy Toc.

"Dieu Ai is very progressive and hard-working. Dieu Ai's beauty is gentle and soft, just like her name. She has the potential to go further in her career, but unfortunately she stopped her artistic activities too early," said Ly Hung.

My Uyen was born in 1975 and has been an actress since the 90s. In Vietnamese fairy tales, the artist often plays the role of a princess and is loved for her graceful beauty.

After that, My Uyen's reputation became known to many audiences through the films Mui Ngo Gai, Nhung De Con Thanh Pho, Kiep Si Duong Pho... She also acted in many plays such as: Chuyen Cua Diem, Song Thu, Chuyen Tau Den Thien Duong...

My Uyen is currently the director of 5B Vo Van Tan stage, dedicating her passion to developing the drama stage and training young artists. In 2023, her stage attracted public attention when it produced children's plays such as: Dai nao long cung, Bo trich nhanh trang...

Thuy Loan

Thuy Loan was born in 1976 and became known to many audiences after her role as Ut Trong in Dat Phuong Nam (1997). The beauty impressed with her elegant face and characteristic rustic features.

In 1998, she appeared in the film Hundred-Joint Bamboo (Vietnamese Fairy Tales 9) directed by Huynh Phuc Dien.

In the early 2000s, at the peak of her career, the actress decided to get married and temporarily stop her artistic activities. For more than 20 years, Thuy Loan has withdrawn from the entertainment industry, living a private life with her family.

At the premiere of the movie Southern Forest Land in October 2023, Thuy Loan rarely appeared before the media. Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, she said her life is fulfilled and happy with her husband and 3 children.

The 7X actress confirmed that her husband did not prevent her from participating in the arts. The decision to leave the screen came from her.

Ha Phuong

Ha Phuong was born in 1972 in a family with a musical tradition. She has an older sister, singer Cam Ly, and a younger sister, singer Minh Tuyet. Since childhood, Ha Phuong and her sisters sang on many stages in Ho Chi Minh City.

In 1999, Ha Phuong attracted attention when she appeared in Vietnamese Fairy Tales 10, playing the role of Queen Ngoc Lan in the movie Prince Saves Mother.

In 2000, the singer moved to the US to settle down, then married businessman Chinh Chu. After getting married, Ha Phuong stopped singing to build a family.

In an interview with Dan Tri reporter, she shared the reason for her absence from the arts: "My husband is extremely busy, only free on weekends so he can stay home or go out with his wife and children. Meanwhile, in the US, music shows usually take place on weekends. If I go to sing, my husband and I won't have time to see each other."

The singer said she regretted having to sacrifice her passion, but in return, her family always had time to be together. She also affirmed that her husband did not forbid her from singing, but it came from her own wishes.

Since 2022, the singer has been traveling between the US and Vietnam regularly to return to her musical activities. She said her children have grown up so she has time to sing. Her billionaire husband supports the singer, creating conditions for his wife to return to the arts, but she still maintains her moderation, "not running shows too much".
