According to the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, the authorities are implementing investment procedures to put out a bid for the construction of the road project from the Le Duan - Truong Chinh intersection to the expressway interchange and the land fund on both sides of the road early next year.

The 35th session of the 11th Provincial People's Council on June 24 approved and passed a resolution on investment in the road project from Le Duan - Truong Chinh intersection to the expressway interchange and land fund on both sides of the road. This route in phase 1 will invest in completing 6 lanes for motor vehicles; phase 2 will continue to invest in the remaining items and add 6 lanes, making the route have 12 lanes for motor vehicles... The road project connecting the expressway to the center of Phan Thiet city is one of the projects that people in the area are interested in because it is associated with the interests of many people. Because currently, vehicles traveling on the North-South expressway in the southern region (towards Ho Chi Minh City) Dau Giay - Phan Thiet to the center of Phan Thiet city must go through National Highway 1 - My Thanh, about 2.6 km long, the road surface has 4 lanes for motor vehicles, motorbikes travel on the same lane for motor vehicles, then continue to travel along National Highway 1 (about 13 km) to Phan Thiet, so it is quite inconvenient. Since the expressway was put into operation, the intersection area to National Highway 1 (Ba Bau) often experiences traffic jams, especially on weekends and holidays, so with a distance of only 16 km but the travel time is about 30 minutes, not to mention the time when traffic jams occur or when vehicles collide, the traffic jam will take nearly an hour. For traffic from the North to Ninh Thuan via Vinh Hao – Phan Thiet expressway to Phan Thiet city center, it must go through National Highway 28 with a small scale of 2 lanes for motor vehicles with a travel time of more than 30 minutes. This partly affects the efficiency of investment in the North – South expressway, especially when Binh Thuan is merged into Lam Dong province (new), the travel demand of people and employees increases, easily leading to traffic accidents.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Trung - Director of the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, said: To proactively connect important national traffic routes with the center of the province, open up new spaces, and contribute to promoting the development of the East-West economic corridor, Binh Thuan has implemented a project to connect the center of Phan Thiet city with the North-South high-speed railway. The project is about 12.05 km long (including the North-South expressway overpass intersection and the highway's branch roads), with a hot asphalt concrete road surface structure, in which the section passing through Phan Thiet city (about 1 km long) and Ham Hiep commune, Ham Thuan Bac district (about 11.05 km long) is invested in 2 sections including: The first section of the route from Km0+000 - Km1+000: The cross-section of the route is 37 m wide, the road surface width on each side is 10.5 m wide, the median strip is 4 m wide, the sidewalk on each side is 6 m wide, investing in technical infrastructure works. The section from Km1+000 to the end of the route: Carry out site clearance according to the scale of the complete route (12 lanes, cross-section width of 79 m), in the first phase, 6 lanes for motor vehicles, 10 m wide sidewalks, investing in technical infrastructure works. Invest in building 2 new reinforced concrete bridges on the route (existing North-South railway overpass at about Km9+150 and North-South expressway overpass) with 2 independent bridge units.

In addition, the project also reclaims land along both sides of the road, 50-100 m wide depending on the location (calculated from the edge of the sidewalk) and the land planned for the Provincial Bus Station to reserve land for investment. The project has a clearance area of ​​about 242 hectares (including the road and reclaimed land along both sides of the route). The total investment of VND 4,712,327 billion is expected to be a group A project (of which the cost of compensation, support and resettlement is VND 2,708,600 billion), invested from the provincial budget (in 2025, capital will be allocated for investment preparation and transferred to the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2026 - 2030 to allocate capital for project implementation). The project implementation period is 5 years...

The project connecting Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway to Phan Thiet city center when completed will connect from Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway to Phan Thiet city center with the first section in Ham Hiep commune and the North - South high-speed railway down to Le Duan street (at the intersection with Truong Chinh street) and together with Le Duan street, Nguyen Tat Thanh street will form the main axis in the East - West direction connecting from the expressway to Phan Thiet city center with important foreign and domestic traffic hubs including expressway, high-speed railway station, bypass road through Phan Thiet city (ring road 2), Truong Chinh street, future provincial bus station with the center of Phan Thiet city and connecting to the coastal road through Phan Thiet city, opening up new development space to promote local socio-economic development... From Le Duan connecting road, connecting other important roads such as Thu Khoa Huan - Hung Vuong street to Mui Ne National Tourist Area. Connecting with Nguyen Tat Thanh street to Doi Duong - Thuong Chanh beach, connecting with Tran Hung Dao street to the emerging tourist area of ​​Tien Thanh and then to La Gi or Ke Ga, Ham Thuan Nam... Therefore, according to initial perception, this connecting route will be very important when it both elevates Phan Thiet urban area to be connected inter-regionally and creates space for economic and commercial development and land fund value on both sides of the route as well as land fund reserved for building other commercial areas...
