Evaluation of admission work to grade 10 high school in the 2024-2025 school year in Dak Lak province

On July 2, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to evaluate the enrollment work for grade 10 high school in the 2024-2025 school year in the province. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee H'Yim Kđoh chaired the meeting.

The report at the meeting said that in the 2023-2024 school year, the whole province has 32,089 grade 9 students, of which 31,944 are junior high school graduates. The total number of students registered for admission to grade 10 in the 2024-2025 school year to high schools is 28,236; the number of students wishing to enroll in the regulareducation system is 1,452; the enrollment plan of 7 vocational education institutions reported is 3,075 students (5 schools have not reported yet). Currently, there are still 1,925 junior high school graduates who have not been assigned to schools and classes according to their learning needs.

To ensure the learning needs of students, at the meeting, representatives of departments, branches and localities proposed solutions to be implemented in the coming time such as: proposing a policy to increase the number of students/class for grade 10 in the 2024-2025 school year to an average of 44 students/class for all public high schools in the province; requesting the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to have a plan to forecast and evaluate the situation of junior high school students graduating each year in the area to proactively arrange funds to pay for teaching allowances for teachers and increase investment in facilities and teaching equipment to ensure the organization of teaching at Vocational Education - Continuing Education centers suitable for each school year; continuing to pay more attention to junior high school graduates in remote areas, ethnic minority areas, etc.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee H Yim Kđoh agreed to the proposal to increase the number of students per class (44 students per class) for 10th graders in the 2024-2025 school year as proposed by the Department of Education and Training. At the same time, he requested the Department of Education and Training to coordinate with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and localities to accurately review the number of enrollment needs as well as the conditions of facilities and the number of teachers in Vocational Education - Continuing Education centers, intermediate and college levels to promptly arrange classes for students, ensuring that "no student has to stop studying due to lack of schools or classes".

In addition, direct high schools to report specifically on enrollment work, number of students enrolled and continue to implement enrollment work to ensure meeting assigned targets; continue to guide parents and students to register for enrollment in vocational colleges, vocational colleges, vocational education centers - continuing education according to locality and wishes; coordinate to effectively implement propaganda work on education streaming; forecast and assess students' learning needs in line with local practical conditions, develop enrollment plans suitable to the needs of students in the area.

The People's Committees of districts and towns shall proactively decide on the enrollment quota for grade 10 of the continuing education system at vocational education and continuing education centers according to their authority; prioritize funding, ensure facilities, and teaching staff for vocational education and continuing education centers to meet the learning needs of students and ensure necessary conditions for the new school year. The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs shall have solutions to improve the quality of vocational education in the area to attract students after graduating from junior high school to register to study at intermediate schools, colleges, etc.
