From January 1, 2025, inner-city districts and suburban districts will have major changes in administrative units at the commune and ward levels.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man signed and issued Resolution No. 1286/NQ-UBTVQH15 of the National Assembly Standing Committee, officially approving the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in Hanoi for the 2023-2025 period.
The Resolution clearly states: After rearranging commune-level administrative units, Hanoi city has 30 district-level administrative units, including 12 districts, 17 districts and 1 town; 526 commune-level administrative units, including 160 wards, 345 communes and 21 towns.
Accordingly, the commune-level administrative units in the districts of Ba Vi, Chuong My, Me Linh, My Duc, Phu Xuyen, Phuc Tho, Quoc Oai, Thach That, Thanh Oai, Thuong Tin, Ung Hoa, Gia Lam are arranged;
Of the 12 districts, the administrative units of 8 districts and towns are arranged: Cau Giay, Dong Da, Ha Dong, Hai Ba Trung, Long Bien, Thanh Xuan, Ba Dinh and Son Tay town. Specifically:
The above resolution stipulates the arrangement of 109 commune-level administrative units to form 56 new commune-level administrative units in 20 districts, towns and cities of Hanoi city. Specifically:
Arrangement of administrative units of 8 districts and towns:
Cau Giay District has 8 wards.
Dong Da district has 17 wards.
Ha Dong district has 15 wards.
Hai Ba Trung District has 15 wards.
Long Bien District has 13 wards.
Thanh Xuan District has 9 wards.
Ba Dinh District has 13 wards.
Son Tay town has 13 commune-level administrative units, including 6 communes and 7 wards.
Arrangement of administrative units of 12 districts:
Specifically, in Ba Vi district there are 29 commune-level administrative units, including 28 communes and 1 town.
Chuong My district has 30 commune-level administrative units, including 28 communes and 2 towns.
Me Linh district has 17 commune-level administrative units, including 15 communes and 2 towns.
My Duc district has 20 commune-level administrative units, including 19 communes and 1 town.
Phu Xuyen district has 23 commune-level administrative units, including 21 communes and 2 towns.
Phuc Tho district has 18 commune-level administrative units, including 17 communes and 1 town.
Quoc Oai district has 17 commune-level administrative units, including 16 communes and 1 town.
Thach That district has 20 commune-level administrative units, including 19 communes and 1 town.
Thanh Oai district has 20 commune-level administrative units, including 19 communes and 1 town.
Thuong Tin district has 27 commune-level administrative units, including 26 communes and 1 town.
Ung Hoa district has 20 commune-level administrative units, including 19 communes and 1 town.
Gia Lam district has 17 commune-level administrative units, including 15 communes and 2 towns.
The National Assembly Standing Committee requested the Government to direct relevant ministries and the Hanoi city government to continue researching and developing appropriate reorganization plans for administrative units that are subject to reorganization but have not yet been reorganized in the 2023-2025 period, and to determine a roadmap for completing the necessary standards and conditions to ensure reorganization in the following years in accordance with regulations.
This Resolution comes into force from January 1, 2025.
