On September 22, 2004, the Director of the Judicial Academy issued Decision No. 295/QD-HVTP on the establishment of the Faculty of Lawyer Training with the goal of creating a solid foundation for the development of a professional legal training system in Vietnam during the period of innovation and international integration; gradually narrowing the development gap in legal training in our country compared to countries with strong and long-standing judicial systems in the world .

Over the past 20 years, the Faculty of Lawyer Training has had an important position, role and legal status in the organizational structure and in the management system of training and scientific research activities of the Judicial Academy.

With the 12-month lawyer training program according to the credit system and the 12-month lawyer training program according to the credit system applied to students of high-quality lawyer training classes, the Faculty of Lawyer Training is currently maintaining and providing students with a rich amount of learning materials with 31 textbooks, documents, 117 case files, 55 practice situations...

Former Deputy Director of the Judicial Academy, Dr. Le Mai Anh, stated that lawyer training at the Judicial Academy is a field of vocationaleducation that attracts the participation of those who want to be trained and practice as lawyers in Vietnam. The achievements of the Faculty of Lawyer Training in the career of lawyer training are not only valuable for the development of the Judicial Academy but also make important contributions to the development of the Judicial sector and the country in the period of promoting judicial reform and international integration.

"The lawyer training model based on the educational philosophy of Practical Teaching - Practical Learning - Practical Practice, diversifying the organization and implementation methods (direct, online, direct combined with online) is a historic turning point in perfecting and developing the current lawyer training program and the vision to 2030 of the Faculty of Lawyer Training", Dr. Le Mai Anh commented.

In fact, the current context also poses many difficulties and challenges for the training of lawyers. Deputy Head of the Faculty of Lawyer Training, Dr. Nguyen Thi Van Anh raised the issue for the new development stage of the Faculty of Lawyer Training: "The lawyer training program needs to constantly update and innovate the content and training methods to adapt to the practice of the profession in the context of rapid development of science and technology, the process of judicial reform and international integration of the lawyer profession".

In addition, many opinions say that the training and improvement of the quality of the teaching staff of the Faculty of Lawyer Training needs to continue to develop in the direction of enhancing knowledge, skills, and practical experience in practice; enhancing pedagogical ability, the ability to apply information technology in training activities... At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen international cooperation in lawyer training with advanced training institutions in the world, in order to shorten the gap in lawyer training in Vietnam and the world.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Director of the Judicial Academy, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Minh Hang said that after 20 years of the Judicial Academy performing the function and task of training lawyers, especially, according to Decision 1155/QD-TTg in 2022 approving the Project to continue building the Judicial Academy into a large center for training judicial positions, the period of 2025 - 2030 is identified as the period when the lawyer training model needs to be developed to a new level.

The "leverage" to bring the Judicial Academy's lawyer training model to a new level, according to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Minh Hang, comes from three directions to innovate the current lawyer training model, improving the quality of lawyer training in the new historical period:

Firstly, improve the quality and effectiveness of training activities;

Second, build a training environment that is friendly to learners, the labor market, services, and society, meeting the requirements of international integration and the 4.0 industrial revolution;

Third, enhance the competitiveness of lawyers and law firms in the domestic, regional and international legal services market, actively contributing to judicial reform and socio-economic development of the country.

"To ensure the sustainability of development, this innovation process must be carried out on the basis of clearly defining the viewpoints, goals, visions, and core values of lawyer training programs as the basis for implementing a long-term and breakthrough lawyer training strategy," Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Minh Hang affirmed.
