Creative essays, focused expressions, and convincing arguments are highly appreciated and points are not deducted mechanically for missing a few minor details.
Above is the opinion of the representative of the Department of Education and Training about the literature answer for grade 10 high school entrance exam that is causing controversy on social networks.
According to the representative of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, marking exams is the responsibility of theeducation sector, and also the conscience of teachers. Each exam is evaluated objectively and transparently, through many independent marking rounds and strict supervision, with no loose or strict marking.
Specifically, each test is graded in two independent rounds by two different examiners. If the score deviates by less than 1 point, the two examiners must discuss to reach an agreement; if the difference is from 1 to 1.5 points, a report will be drawn up; if the difference is more than 1.5 points, the test will be graded a third time. In special cases, the test score is calculated as the average of the three gradings.

In addition, the exam room is equipped with a 24/7 camera surveillance system, ensuring that there are no errors during the marking process. The marking council also randomly selects a number of exam papers to re-mark, in order to compare and ensure objectivity.
Responding to reporters' questions about exam marking, the leader of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that choosing literary materials outside of textbooks creates conditions for students to express their personal feelings and thoughts instead of memorizing sample essays.
The answers provided are only for guidance and not rigid, so creative essays, focused expressions, and convincing arguments are highly appreciated and points will not be deducted mechanically.
Currently, all exam papers of nearly 103,000 candidates in Hanoi have been handed over to the exam board according to regulations and ensuring safety and confidentiality.
According to the plan, the marking will be carried out from now until June 22. During the marking period, the head of the marking committee is responsible for reporting the marking progress to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training at 5:00 p.m. every day.

This is the first year that Hanoi's literature exam did not use textbook materials but chose the excerpt "Happiness" by poet Giang Nam - a choice that was considered humane, profound and very close to the psychology of school-age children.
The test structure consists of two main parts: Reading comprehension (4 points) and writing (6 points). In the reading comprehension part, students answer 5 questions closely following the content of the excerpt. The writing part includes a social argumentative paragraph of about 200 words and an in-depth argumentative essay.
Immediately after the Hanoi Department of Education and Training gave the answer, public opinion reflected that the question: "How to find joy in school life?" was assessed as open, aiming for practical solutions and optimism.
However, the suggested answer requires students to explain the concept, situation, cause and provide a solution.
This raises concerns that if students answer correctly but do not follow all the items in the answer key, points will be deducted.
