Carefully holding each 35-year and 45-year Party membership badge, and each certificate of merit neatly stored in a glass cabinet, Mrs. Ly Thi Phin, residing in Nam Sat 2 residential area, Bac Ha town, Bac Ha district, couldn't help but feel emotional as she looked back on the past 50 years. Each memento is a milestone marking her lifelong struggle and effort. Fifty years of national joy also marks the same number of years that Mrs. Ly Thi Phin has proudly stood in the ranks of the Party.

Inheriting the resilient spirit of the Red Dao people, she grew up in the remote Nam Det region. After completing the 4th grade, she went on to study medicine. Upon finishing her studies, she returned to Bac Ha and worked at the District Women's Association from 1965 to 1975. When she started working at the association, she was only 20 years old, and her first son was just 7 months old.

"Every time I go to work, I carry my child on my back. It's hard work, the journey is difficult, but the job has helped me grow and feel useful to society," Ms. Phin shared.

On the morning of April 30, 1975, a large number of cadres gathered in the courtyard of the Hoang A Tuong mansion, cheering and dancing to celebrate the moment of victory. That afternoon, the Party branch held a ceremony to admit Ms. Ly Thi Phin into the Party. Ms. Phin reminisced, “Celebrating the victory of liberating the South and unifying the country, and feeling proud to be a member of the Party, that is a day I will never forget. April 30, 2025 will be a special milestone, when I receive the 50-year Party membership badge.”

Born and raised in a family with a rich tradition, her mother was Trieu Mui Pham, the first female Party branch secretary of the Dao ethnic group in Bac Ha district. Her children and grandchildren have grown up working in various units, holding important positions in Party organizations and agencies.

Having worked in various units, in 1999, Ms. Phin held the position of Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Bac Ha District. With many efforts and dedication, Ms. Ly Thi Phin was awarded a Certificate of Commendation by the Prime Minister for her many achievements in her work from 1996 to 1998, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.

This is a proud account from Mr. Nguyen Manh Lam, from Bao Vinh village, Bao Ha commune, Bao Yen district. On April 30, 1975, after the joyous news of the victory, his family's happiness doubled with the arrival of a new member. "Before, my father used to joke with my mother that April 30 wasn't supposed to be my birth date, but because she was so happy about the victory, she danced and I was born prematurely on that special day," Mr. Lam recounted.

When we arrived at his house, Mr. Lam had just parked his car in front. The car was striking because of the decals expressing patriotism. These included the words "Celebrating 50 years of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country," an image of the red flag with a yellow star, and a picture of a tank entering the Independence Palace…

"Since the beginning of April, I've ordered images of the national flag to put on my car. These days, my patriotism is surging even more, and I want to join in the atmosphere of anticipation for the great victory with the whole country," Mr. Lam shared.

For Mr. Lam, having his birthday coincide with the nation's great victory day is a source of honor and pride. "I feel happy because every year on my birthday, my children, grandchildren, and friends are all together, since it's a day off for everyone. I don't need to remember my birthday or count my years, because the whole country is bustling with excitement and joy as this day approaches."

Scrolling through the photos posted on her personal Facebook page, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ha - Mr. Lam's daughter - proudly said: "Posting family photos to celebrate my father's birthday has become a habit of mine for many years now. Regularly, every year, on April 30th, we and my father capture meaningful moments, like an important milestone because my father is getting older each year that the country has enjoyed peace ."

Flipping through the family photo album with her mother, Ms. Le Quynh Trang, currently working at the Organization Department of the Bao Thang District Party Committee, couldn't help but be moved. The family had carefully preserved images of her from when she was one year old until she grew up.

Throughout her childhood, every year Quỳnh Trang had a birthday celebration organized by the whole neighborhood, with her parents hiring photographers to capture each meaningful moment.

On April 30, 1975, the country was reunified. Twenty-two years later, at exactly 11:30 AM on April 30, 1997, Quynh Trang was born. Her mother, Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa, recalled: “Before I gave birth, there was a storm, and trees fell. I had abdominal pain all day, then went to the hospital to wait to give birth. My husband was away on business, so our relatives were very worried.”

"Everyone was overjoyed that both mother and child were healthy. Trang was born on the anniversary of the liberation of South Vietnam and the reunification of the country. My family often jokes that even if we become poor in the future, every year our daughter will get to celebrate her birthday with the rest of the country and have a holiday to celebrate with us," Mrs. Hoa shared.

Aware of her special birthday, Trang studied diligently and actively participated in school activities from a young age. She was an excellent student for 12 years and an outstanding student for four years at the University of Labour and Social Affairs. Trang was also honored to be admitted to the Communist Party while still a student.

Each person has their own story connected to that historical moment, but they all share one thing in common: pride, joy, and gratitude towards the generations of ancestors who fought for national independence. That historical moment has become an indispensable part of their hearts.
