Mr. Lai Van Hoan - Vice Chairman of Thai Binh Provincial People's Committee - has just signed and issued Official Dispatch No. 2879/UBND-NCKS to the Provincial Inspectorate, Provincial Police, Department of Home Affairs, Department of Information and Communications on the inspection of the organization of the entrance exam for grade 10 high school in the 2024-2025 school year in Thai Binh province.
According to the content of the dispatch, the People's Committee of Thai Binh province received petitions from citizens and public opinion reflecting irregularities in exam scores in the 10th grade high school entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year in Thai Binh province.
Those "abnormalities" are that there are up to 18 registration numbers, and the test scores do not accurately reflect the test results.
And after submitting the appeal, the new score had a big difference compared to the old score. In particular, candidate number 260xxx had his Math score increase from 3.75 to 9.5 points, a difference of 5.75 points.
This makes many parents, students, and teachers believe that this exam in Thai Binh has many irregularities, is unfair, and causes disadvantages and serious mental damage to students.
It is worth mentioning that the abnormality - many candidates with different scores after re-examination like this in the recent exam not only occurred in Thai Binh province but also in many other localities such as Ha Nam (6th grade entrance exam), Thanh Hoa (Lam Son Specialized School entrance exam).
In Ha Nam and Thanh Hoa , those responsible all gave reasons to explain that it was due to “wrong score” and “wrong beat”. In Thai Binh, the official cause has not been announced.
Therefore, the direction of the Thai Binh Provincial People's Committee to conduct a surprise, comprehensive inspection of the exam is necessary and timely to quickly clarify the cause, giving parents, students, teachers and public opinion a satisfactory answer.
The fact that many candidates from different localities have the same "incident" in different exams is no longer simply an "incident" but an abnormality with signs of being systematic and repetitive.
This causes public opinion to raise many big questions about the fairness, seriousness, and responsibility of very important exams such as the entrance exams for grade 6 and grade 10...
Through this, the Ministry of Education and Training also needs to intervene to find the cause and provide effective solutions to ensure transparency and fairness in all stages of the exams. This is also a way to restore people's trust, first of all in exams!
