Gunfight between two criminal gangs in Brazil, many people died

At least six people were killed and one other injured in a shootout between criminal gangs in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The shooting occurred in the Honorio Gurgel neighborhood, where members of the alleged Comando Vermelho criminal gang were holding a party on November 14, local police said, according to Xinhua.

Initial investigations suggest that rival gang Terceiro Comando Puro stormed the location, leading to a fierce gunfight.

The ensuing gang shootout left at least six people dead and one injured.

Earlier, security forces launched a large-scale raid on the Comando Vermelho gang in Rio de Janeiro on October 28, leaving at least 121 people dead.

The raid involved 2,500 police and soldiers. Clashes broke out between government forces and gang members.

"The raid is a historic day in the fight against crime in Rio de Janeiro," said Rio de Janeiro Governor Claudio Castro.
