Investing in facilities - improving the quality of education

Thanks to the focus on prioritizing investment resources and increasing socialization, the infrastructure system of schools in Muong Gion commune has been gradually improved. Many schools have been upgraded, repaired, and newly built; teaching equipment has been gradually modernized, contributing significantly to improving the quality of comprehensive education.

Currently, Muong Gion commune has 9 educational facilities, including 3 kindergartens, 2 primary schools, 2 primary and secondary schools, 1 secondary school, 1 high school. In the period of 2021-2025, the commune will invest in building, renovating and upgrading 40 classrooms and functional rooms from the state budget and socialized capital. Of which, 23 works including classrooms, multi-purpose buildings, administrative buildings, and boarding kitchens have been completed and put into use. The total cost of the projects is over 30 billion VND.

Mr. Tong Hung Vi, Principal of Muong Gion Primary School, said: The school is maintaining 4 campuses, 25 classes, and a total of 537 students. This school year, the school has invested over 1 billion VND to renovate classrooms, functional rooms, and classroom corridors, to better meet the teaching and learning needs of teachers and students.

Currently, libraries, laboratories, subject classrooms, offices, teachers' houses, auxiliary works, teaching equipment at educational facilities in Muong Gion commune are being invested in a synchronous and modern direction, meeting the needs of 1 room/classroom, ensuring 2 sessions/day of teaching; the rate of solid classrooms is nearly 98%; semi-solid classrooms are only 2%. Minimum equipment for preschool level is 75%; primary level is 80%; secondary level is 77%; high school level is 90%.

In addition to the State's investment capital, in recent years, Muong Gion commune has also received socialized resources and charity projects to build schools for highland villages and purchase teaching equipment. In particular, Phieng Mut school and Muong Gion Kindergarten were sponsored by the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, the "Highland Poor Students" Fund and businesses with a total investment of more than 4 billion VND, put into operation in 2024, providing comfortable learning conditions for 112 students of Phieng Mut 1 village, Phieng Mut 2 village and Hua Xanh village.

Mr. Trinh Xuan Canh, Principal of Pa Ma Pha Khinh Secondary School, excitedly said: This school year, the school has 21 classes with more than 517 students. With the attention of the commune, the school was handed over the additional Pa Ma Pha Khinh commune headquarters to be used as 3 functional classrooms; invested in renovating 2 multi-purpose houses, equipped with 5 more smart TVs for teaching, with a total cost of nearly 2 billion VND. The invested facilities contribute to improving the quality of teaching and learning.

Educational facilities have been invested, creating conditions for schools to constantly strive to innovate and improve the quality of education. 100% of schools in the commune have been recognized as meeting national standards; the annual high school graduation rate is over 98%. The number of students from junior high and high schools who have won provincial-level excellent student awards, cultural, artistic, physical education and sports competitions has increased gradually over the years; over 15% of high school graduates go to universities, colleges and vocational schools.

Ms. Luong Thi Duyen, Chairwoman of Muong Gion Commune People's Committee, said: The commune prioritizes investment in facilities and teaching equipment for schools with financial difficulties, schools in the process of re-accreditation to meet national standards. Currently, the commune is making efforts to speed up the progress of developing a plan to re-accredit 1 school to meet national standards in 2025; re-accredit 5 schools to meet level 2 education quality accreditation standards, and level 1 national standards in 2026.

In the coming period, Muong Gion commune will continue to prioritize investment capital to build and upgrade classroom buildings, strive to complete a synchronous system of classrooms, functional rooms, and boarding areas for students and teachers, creating a solid foundation for local education development, meeting the requirements of innovation and improving the quality of comprehensive education.
