For about the past 6 months, every Friday afternoon to Sunday, there has been a large volume of cars, ranging from 4-seater to 45-seater, carrying tourists on the Ham Kiem – Tien Thanh road, heading to Tien Thanh tourist areas or down to tourist areas in La Gi and Ham Thuan Nam, and vice versa...
The bustling traffic of hundreds of cars on this approximately 8-kilometer stretch of road shows that it offers more convenient access to tourist destinations compared to other routes in the area. Le Thanh Hai, a driver for a travel company specializing in transporting tourists from southern provinces to Phan Thiet, shared: "The Ham Kiem – Tien Thanh road is considered by drivers and travel agencies as the 'gateway' to bring tourists to the Tien Thanh tourist area, down to the Thầy Thím shrine, or to Ke Ga and vice versa, due to its convenient straight-line traffic flow..."
The Ham Kiem – Tien Thanh road, approximately 8 km long, was invested in by the Provincial People's Committee with less than 420 billion VND from the provincial budget, but it has yielded unexpected results. It has facilitated and shortened travel time for tourists from the Southern, Southeastern, and Central Highlands provinces to access the expressway and National Highway 1 (km 14, Ham Kiem commune, Ham Thuan Nam district), then connect directly to Tien Thanh (Phan Thiet city), intersecting with Road 719B to create a roundabout as a landmark, from which routes can branch out to coastal tourist areas in Tien Thanh, Ham Thuan Nam, or La Gi town.
The road has a roadbed width of 37 m, a road surface width of 16 m, a 9 m median strip, and 6 m shoulders on each side. The road surface is constructed of asphalt concrete on a crushed stone base. Three reinforced concrete bridges will be newly constructed along the route, each consisting of two bridge sections spaced 8 m apart: Suoi Sop Bridge at Km0+615, Bau Ca Dam Bridge at Km+812, and Suoi Nho Bridge at Km1+346. Each bridge section has a carriageway width of 8 m and a railing and pedestrian walkway width of 2.5 m. Investment will also be made in drainage systems, landscaping, and traffic safety measures.
The Ham Kiem – Tien Thanh road is like a silk scarf draped across gentle hillsides lined with lush green dragon fruit orchards. During the season when the dragon fruit ripens, the vibrant red interspersed with the green of the trees creates a dreamy landscape that captivates many tourists. Ms. Hoang Thi Nga from Ho Chi Minh City, who recently traveled to Phan Thiet with her family for the Hung Vuong Ancestor Commemoration Day holiday, shared: "There were many tourist buses on the road, but thanks to the wide road and the dragon fruit orchards on both sides, the scenery was beautiful. The kids insisted on stopping the car to take some photos to show off to their friends. I think Binh Thuan's investment in this road is very effective in stimulating tourism development, especially since the land on both sides of the road, once developed, will further enhance the development of commerce and tourism."
The Ham Kiem – Tien Thanh road project commenced on November 16, 2021, with a construction period of four years. The project was undertaken by a joint venture between Viet Hoa Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company and 515 Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company. The project is now complete and is a key provincial project, marking the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Binh Thuan . The project is expected to be inaugurated next week...
