Promoting innovation in children's library activities by 2025

On December 15th, at Binh Minh International School, the Provincial Museum and Library organized a conference to review the three-year implementation of Directive No. 20/CT-TTg dated November 1st, 2022, of the Prime Minister on promoting innovation in library activities in building and developing reading skills, information access, and processing for children in the province; and an interactive session with speakers on the theme "Reading in the Digital Age". Attending the conference were representatives from the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, teachers, and over 500 students from the school.

Conference to review the first three years of implementing Directive No. 20/CT-TTg dated November 1, 2022, of the Prime Minister .

Over the three years since the implementation of Prime Minister's Directive No. 20/CT-TTg, the library system in Son La province has undergone many positive changes. The collection of materials for children has been continuously supplemented; currently, the province has over 150,000 children's books, an increase of nearly 30,000 in the past three years. Digital transformation has been accelerated through the application of electronic library software, digitization of local history documents, and the development of online OPAC (Open Access Plan) search, creating conditions for students to easily access information resources anytime, anywhere.

The work of promoting and encouraging reading has been innovated with many rich and diverse forms. The "Reading Culture Ambassador" competition, held over three years, has attracted 26,810 entries from students in more than 150 schools, creating a strong ripple effect within schools and families. Extracurricular activities and experiences such as "Summer Fun with the Library" and "Reading with Children - Lighting Up Dreams" have attracted tens of thousands of children.

Over 500 students from Binh Minh International School participated in the conference summarizing the three-year implementation of Directive No. 20/CT-TTg dated November 1, 2022, of the Prime Minister.

Within the framework of the program, speaker Nguyen Duc Vuong interacted and exchanged ideas with students on the topic of "Reading in the Digital Age." Through interactive questions, the speaker helped students improve their skills in selecting information, identifying harmful and toxic content online, and effectively using technological devices for learning, thereby forming a proactive and scientific reading habit.

On this occasion, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded certificates of merit to 10 collectives and individuals for their outstanding achievements in implementing the Directive on promoting innovation in children's library activities in 2025.

Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Museum and Library of the province presented Certificates of Commendation to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in implementing the Directive on promoting innovation in children's library activities in 2025.
