Starting to raise bees for honey in 2020 with a quantity of 100 boxes, after many years of diligent research and care, in 2022, Ms. Lo Thanh Xuan's honey products in Muong Mit village (Muong Than commune) achieved 3-star OCOP quality. That was also the time when Ms. Xuan decided to establish her own cooperative called Muong Mit Agricultural Cooperative.
Ms. Lo Thanh Xuan - Director of Muong Mit Agricultural Cooperative shared: Since the establishment of the Cooperative, I have received technical support, connection and product promotion from departments, branches, provinces and communes, so the Cooperative's honey not only meets the domestic market but is also displayed in the Japanese market (in 2023). Production and business under the Cooperative model helps me to link production and follow a systematic scale. The Cooperative has built a website, taking advantage of social networking platforms to promote and sell products.
In addition, the Cooperative focuses on introducing to larger markets to build a brand for Vietnamese agricultural products. Establishing and developing the Cooperative not only helps Ms. Xuan earn a profit of about 200 million VND/year but also creates jobs and income for workers in the commune and contributes to the local economy .

Phuc Than Agricultural - Rural Cooperative is also one of the typical cooperatives in the area. Ms. Do Thi Nham - Head of the Cooperative said: In 2012, my family invested in raising pigs and buffaloes. After many years of converting the business model, I now raise commercial cows and pigs (50 cows, nearly 100 pigs). To receive support in capital and technology, in 2020, I established the Cooperative. Up to now, the Cooperative has developed well, I have invested in separate barns, far from residential areas; proactively cared for and raised livestock according to the "3 no" criteria: no pesticides, no growth stimulants and no free-range livestock; proactively prevent livestock diseases; grow elephant grass to ensure food sources. With a large scale of livestock, I hire 2 regular workers with a salary of 6-10 million VND/person; each year, I hire about 100 seasonal workers. From the cooperative's comprehensive economic model, after deducting expenses, the average annual revenue is about more than 300 million VND.
Mr. Vang A Nu (worker of Phuc Than Agricultural and Rural Cooperative) shared: My husband and I both work here with a salary of 10 million VND/person/month. Thanks to working as a worker at the Cooperative, I have a job and a stable income to support my family and raise my children.

These are only 2 of the 7 cooperatives that are operating effectively in Muong Than commune. Sharing about the development of collective economy and cooperatives in the area, Mr. Hoang Phi Hung - Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee said: In recent times, the commune has promoted the dissemination of the 2012 Law on Cooperatives and new guiding decrees to the people; supported and guided the establishment of new cooperatives and cooperative groups in the fields of agriculture, services, and tourism ; mobilized preferential capital sources, provincial cooperative support funds, OCOP programs, and through poverty reduction programs, supported loans and seedlings and breeds for investment in developing economic models. Strengthened coordination with specialized agencies to guide and train on techniques and knowledge of livestock farming and disease prevention. Strengthened the connection between cooperatives and enterprises that consume products (rice, honey, herbs, community tourism services, etc.). At the same time, support digital transformation, training in management skills, accounting, and product marketing through e-commerce platforms. Through credit policies and incentives from banks supporting loans to overcome difficulties, support production and business for people, businesses, and cooperatives. Thereby, creating motivation and encouraging people to establish cooperatives and cooperative groups.

In addition to focusing on developing cooperatives and collective economy in the area, the commune has increased coordination in organizing training, providing guidance on farming techniques and product traceability. Coordinated with departments and branches to support the construction of agricultural value chains typical for cooperatives such as honey, dried buffalo meat, dried pork. Supported in promoting and promoting trade, participating in fairs and exhibitions of OCOP products.
With clear and appropriate solutions, directions and methods, the movement of developing collective economy and cooperatives in the commune has changed positively, contributing significantly to the local socio-economic development. Up to now, in Muong Than commune, there are 7 cooperatives operating effectively, with an average revenue of 200 million VND/year.
Typical agricultural cooperatives include: Phuc Than Agriculture - Rural Area; Muong Mit Agriculture; Muong Mit Youth; Minh Thuan. Regarding trade - services, there are cooperatives: Duc Thinh, My Anh Diep. The lives of cooperative members have been improved, creating stable jobs for 50 local workers. Through comprehensive economic models, cooperatives have contributed to job creation, reducing the rate of poor households, and increasing per capita income. Up to now, the multidimensional poverty rate of the commune is 8.64% (down 4.9% compared to 2020); the whole commune has 7 products recognized as 3-star OCOP (up 4 products compared to 2020). The material and spiritual life of the people has been improved, contributing positively and sustainably to poverty reduction in the area".
In particular, cooperatives in the area also link production, support each other in terms of methods, seed supply, output and product promotion; it is a place for people in the commune to visit, learn experiences and apply them in practice.

The results achieved show that the collective economy and cooperatives are gradually asserting their role in developing new rural areas in Muong Than. With the goal of expanding the scale and improving the management capacity of cooperatives; striving for each village and residential area to have at least 1 cooperative group/cooperative operating effectively, in the coming time, Muong Than commune will promote digital transformation, apply e-commerce platforms in product consumption; link cooperative development with key programs: "Building new rural areas", "Green - sustainable community tourism". Thereby, gradually contributing to changing production thinking, increasing income, strengthening community solidarity and moving towards the goal of sustainable development for this land of great potential.
