12 groups participate in the musical instrument performance contest to celebrate Ok Om Bok Festival

Following the series of activities in the Culture, Sports and Tourism Week to celebrate the Ok Om Bok Festival of Vinh Long province in 2025, on the night of October 31, at the Ao Ba Om scenic stage (Nguyet Hoa ward), the opening ceremony of the 1st Khmer Traditional Musical Instrument Performance Competition of Vinh Long province in 2025 took place.

Following the series of activities in the Culture, Sports and Tourism Week to celebrate the Ok Om Bok Festival of Vinh Long province in 2025, on the night of October 31, at the Ao Ba Om scenic stage (Nguyet Hoa ward), the opening ceremony of the 1st Khmer Traditional Musical Instrument Performance Competition of Vinh Long province in 2025 took place.

The contest had the participation of 12 mass art troupes, with over 250 artisans, musicians, and amateur actors from the communes: Cau Ke, Ngai Tu, An Phu Tan, Tra Cu, Long Hiep, Cau Ngang, Ngu Lac, Chau Thanh, Song Loc, Binh Phu, Tra Vinh ward and Tra Vinh University.

The participating groups will perform a comprehensive program including: ensemble (5 or more instruments), solo, duet, trio, quartet and encouraged to have accompanying dances. Each program will have a maximum duration of 20 minutes. The content will praise the Communist Party of Vietnam, Uncle Ho; the glorious tradition of the nation, love for the homeland, the people, reflecting the movement of the whole people joining hands to build new rural areas and the movement "The whole people unite to build a cultural life"...

Through the contest, it helps localities collect and promote traditional musical instruments to tourists inside and outside the province; it is an opportunity for artisans and musicians to create and learn from experience; it raises awareness and responsibility of the community in preserving and promoting the traditional and unique values ​​of the Khmer ethnic group in Vinh Long province. At the same time, it discovers typical artisans in the local mass cultural and artistic movement.

After the opening ceremony, 3 units: Cau Ke commune, Tra Vinh ward and Tra Vinh University entered the competition with many unique performances.

The contest is expected to conclude and award prizes on the night of November 3.
