Where artists and heritage meet
From October 20 to 26, the international art camp “Heartbeat of Heritage” took place in Hoi An, co-organized by the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, the Da Nang Fine Arts Association and Asia Art Link. The event aimed to honor painting, promote Vietnamese heritage to the world and foster connections between domestic and foreign artists.
The creative camp was attended by 38 artists from Bangladesh, Canada, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Thailand, the United States and Vietnam. They are names that have affirmed their position in many regional and international art arenas, gathering together to create, exchange and share experiences.
The art camp is open to the public and art lovers to visit and chat with the artists. Many people stop for hours to watch the artists create, feeling the artistic breath in each brushstroke.

Artist Carolyn Muskat (USA) said that this is one of the most valuable artistic camps she has ever participated in. “Here, artists from many countries work, exchange and create together in an open spirit. I feel great to have the opportunity to participate in this event,” shared artist Carolyn Muskat.
According to Carolyn Muskat, the open and friendly atmosphere of the creative camp helps artists easily connect and create a diverse creative community. Each conversation and each painting is a way for artists to understand more about this land.
She added that her work, titled “Morning walk 2”, is a lithograph, expressing the combination of traditional and modern values through abstract language.
“I wanted to depict the peaceful feeling of the early morning, where the old and the new blend together. To me, that is the image of Vietnam, a dynamic country that still preserves its very own cultural features,” said Carolyn Muskat.

Painter Than Trong Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang Fine Arts Association - a member of the creative camp said: "We were able to observe how they work, find inspiration, layout, and color combination. Each artist has their own way of expression, but they all share the same spirit of bringing the image of Da Nang and Vietnamese culture to the world."
The creative themes are diverse, such as: Da Nang beach, Hoi An ancient town, My Son Sanctuary, or the daily life of local people. Each work is a cultural slice, both private and reflecting the general beauty of the Central region.
The art of community connection
At the end of the creative journey, the representative works were displayed at the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum from October 27 to November 10. The exhibition space was designed as a dialogue between cultures, between creative personalities and the breath of heritage.

Painter Tran Manh Linh, Head of the Organizing Committee of the international art creation camp "Heartbeat of Heritage", said that this is the first time Da Nang has organized an international creation camp aimed at preserving and promoting heritage.
"When receiving the invitation, the artists all expressed their desire to come to Da Nang, especially Hoi An. Thanks to the city's support and close coordination between the parties, the event was successful beyond expectations," said Mr. Linh.

According to Mr. Linh, this creative camp achieved two great successes. The first is the spirit of heritage. The artists all expressed their love and respect for tradition, contributing to arousing awareness of preserving cultural values.
The second is the connection between Vietnamese and international artists, between the young generation and the veteran, between art and the public. Thanks to that, art is no longer distant, but becomes a part of life.

Vice President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association Vi Kien Thanh highly appreciated the artistic quality of the camp. At the same time, he said that the works on display were only a part of the artists' works, but enough for the public to visualize the appearance and development of international contemporary art.
“This is a precious opportunity for Da Nang audiences to access world art right in their locality. When entering the exhibition space and admiring each work, viewers will feel the common beat of art and people,” Mr. Thanh shared.
With international scale, professional spirit and heritage orientation, “Heartbeat of Heritage” not only brings an art event, but also contributes to promoting the image of Da Nang - Vietnam to the world.
