Mr. Tran Kim Son, Head of Ben Den village, Go Noi commune, said that he has been using MobiFone for many years, but this is the first time he has encountered the most severe congestion and signal loss.
“During this period, from the beginning of the flood, the signal was unstable. During the days of heavy flooding, the MobiFone signal was completely lost. My family uses 4 MobiFone subscriptions, and by October 31, the signal was basically stable again,” said Mr. Son.
The prolonged loss of phone signal prevented Mr. Son from contacting people and the commune during the complicated flood situation.
“During the floods, the commune leaders could not call me or text me. I was the village manager but could not call the volunteers. On the contrary, the people who needed my support could not call me either,” Mr. Son reflected.
According to Mr. Son, Ben Den village has many customers using MobiFone network. He hopes that the company will upgrade the network to better help people use it smoothly and ensure communication, especially during floods.
Similarly, Mr. T. (Dai Loc commune) said that after nearly 4 days of living in flooded conditions, the water only receded on the morning of October 31; the continuous loss of MobiFone signal brought many inconveniences to users.

Many customers expressed dissatisfaction with the network operator when during the flood season, when they needed to communicate, report the situation, rescue, and provide relief, the communication signal was interrupted.
On the afternoon of October 31, Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Tam, Deputy Director of MobiFone Quang Nam , admitted that the loss of signal and interruption of communication during this flood was exactly as customers reported.
The main reason is that the broadcasting stations are located in flooded areas, with long-term power outages. Although MobiFone has prepared fuel to run the generators, it is only enough to maintain for a certain period of time.
When floodwaters rise for a long time, many roads and areas are heavily flooded, making it difficult for fuel to reach the station. This causes signal interruptions as customers have reported.
Furthermore, when stations lose signal, call traffic is concentrated on the stations that are still operating. This causes network congestion.
According to Ms. Tam, in the old Quang Nam province, there are about 447 thousand MobiFone subscribers. Of which, the large market share is in the northern areas such as Hoi An, Dien Ban, Dai Loc... This is also the area that recorded many customer complaints about the interruption of mobile signal during this flood.
As soon as the mobile signal interruption occurred, MobiFone proposed to share the signal with other networks and directed forces to focus on rescue. However, many areas and roads were heavily flooded, making it impossible to reach the station.
MobiFone apologizes to customers
On October 31, MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation provided information to the press about urgently fixing the mobile signal interruption problem in the Central region.
MobiFone said: “Prolonged heavy rain caused serious flooding and landslides in many places in Da Nang and Hue cities, affecting service quality in some areas.
Currently, MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation is actively maintaining a rescue team, ensuring smooth information to serve the direction, rescue work and communication needs of people in the affected area as soon as possible.
MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation would like to inform and sincerely apologize to our customers. We hope to receive your understanding and cooperation.
