In the early morning of May 21, Manchester City defeated Bournemouth 3-1 at home, thereby moving closer to a ticket to the Champions League next season. Kevin De Bruyne made history in the Premier League as the player who created the most chances in the tournament (846 times), equaling the previous record held by Cesc Fabregas.

De Bruyne has one more match against Fulham in the final round of the Premier League on May 25 to surpass the former Arsenal star.

In the match against Bournemouth, De Bruyne was the captain of Man City. The Belgian midfielder did not score or assist any goals. He surprised everyone with an unbelievable miss. In the 24th minute, De Bruyne tapped the ball into the sky despite an open goal in front of him, after a cross from Omar Marmoush.

De Bruyne missed an unbelievable chance.

Speaking after the match, De Bruyne shared: "That shot was so bad. I have no excuse. My son will tease me very enthusiastically. I think my career is a long journey, with many ups and downs. You have to overcome each moment like that and enjoy it."

In the stands, Man City fans hung a tifo with the message "King Kev" to pay tribute to the Belgian midfielder in his last match at Etihad. After the match ended, De Bruyne also brought his wife and children down to the pitch to say goodbye to the fans. Man City also announced plans to erect a statue of De Bruyne outside the Etihad stadium as a form of gratitude.

"Manchester is my home. I never thought I would stay here for 10 years. We have won everything together, helped the club grow stronger. It is an honor to play for the club," De Bruyne said.

The win over Bournemouth helped Man City rise to third in the Premier League with 68 points, 2 points more than the team behind Newcastle.
