Let children enjoy summer learning.

After about three weeks of "relaxation," many students begin attending summer classes, including both arts and academic subjects.

Many parents whose children are in the same class also work together to find and organize beneficial activities for their children to participate in during the summer.

Launching summer classes

Although summer vacation has ended, Do Duong Khang (a resident of Tan Hiep ward, Bien Hoa city) still maintains his English class schedule. Khang's family believes that his English lessons are not only for achieving high scores in exams, but also to hone all four skills – listening, speaking, reading, and writing – so he can use them effectively in the future. Besides English, Khang's mother has also enrolled him in Math and Literature classes.

Khang's mother shared: "I chose to have my son study math with a teacher near our home so he could go to class on his own. Studying with a private teacher might not result in as high a grade as studying with the subject teacher in class, but it will more accurately reflect his abilities."

During the summer, many parents have the option of enrolling their children in online courses. The advantage of these courses is the flexibility in scheduling, eliminating the need for transportation. Parents are also generally satisfied with the quality. However, to avoid scams, parents need to thoroughly research and verify the information before registering.

Like Khang, many students have summer classes planned by their parents as soon as the school year ends. Most summer tutors receive registration lists and announce class schedules so parents can prepare. Summer cultural classes usually start in mid-June or early July, after students complete their enrollment registration for the next level of education.

Besides the three compulsory subjects: Mathematics, Literature, and English, many 9th-grade students in the 2025-2026 school year are also registering to study Natural Sciences. This is because, according to regulations, the 10th-grade entrance exam has two compulsory subjects: Mathematics and Literature, and a third subject or test chosen by the Department of Education and Training. This third subject may change each year and must not be the same subject for more than three consecutive years.

Take advantage of the summer break to help your child develop skills.

Besides extracurricular activities, academic studies, and sports to improve physical health, many parents take advantage of the summer break to develop their children's skills.

Ms. Pham Thi Thuan (residing in Long Binh ward, Bien Hoa city) said that she enrolls her son in charity programs and community activities. She hopes these activities will help her son understand more about life, to realize that there are many people facing difficulties in society. Through this, she hopes to instill in him a spirit of sharing and community service, giving him more willpower and resilience in life.

Meanwhile, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet (residing in Thanh Phu commune, Vinh Cuu district) chose to enroll her child in the Military Summer Camp program. According to Ms. Tuyet, a week in a "military environment" will not be able to change habits or instill discipline in her child. However, this time can provide her child with interesting experiences and a basic understanding of the life of a soldier. Ms. Tuyet believes that a week of military summer camp will bring her child many unforgettable memories.

Depending on their circumstances, some parents choose not to send their children to summer courses or extracurricular activities, instead keeping them at home and assigning tasks to help them develop skills. Depending on their age, children are guided to do household chores: washing dishes, sweeping, cooking, hanging laundry, etc. They are also encouraged to read books and participate in physical activities. With this option, parents must constantly "monitor" and remind their children through cameras installed in the house.
