On June 20, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Education and Training held a scientific workshop on policies for considering scholarships and living expenses for students studying basic sciences, key engineering and strategic technology.
Deputy Ministerof Education and Training Le Tan Dung shared that the development of this policy Decree is a specific step in implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.
The policy is built on the basis of current legal documents and regulations of the State to promote the development of high-quality human resources in key national fields, contributing to promoting innovation and enhancing national competitiveness.
Investing in scholarship policies in these areas contributes to building a high-quality workforce, supporting the implementation of science and technology development programs, improving research capacity, applying technical advances to production and life, and contributing to sustainable socio -economic development.
Building a specialized scholarship policy, industry- and field-oriented, with sustainable resources is an urgent requirement to realize the goals of developing highly qualified human resources to serve digital transformation and national innovation.
Mr. Ngo Van Thinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Finance, Ministry of Education and Training, said that the target learners of this policy are students, graduate students, and researchers studying in fields of basic science, key engineering, and strategic technology.
According to the draft Decree, students will be granted 100% scholarships with excellent academic results, 70% for good results and 50% for fair results. The scholarship level is granted according to the tuition fee ceiling as prescribed by the Government.
Along with the scholarship, students in these fields will receive a living allowance of VND3.63 million/month from the State. The scholarship period and living expenses are determined based on the actual number of months of study at the school, up to a maximum of 10 months/school year.
This scholarship and living allowance policy is expected to apply to higher education institutions that offer training in the fields eligible for the policy, including both public and non-public. The list of fields eligible for the policy may be adjusted in stages according to the Government's decision.
