As a land of “seven lakes, three waterfalls” with primeval forests, waterfalls, and cool climate, Mang Den brings to those who live in urban areas all year round a feeling of comfort, ease, and stress reduction after tiring working days.
Mang Den is a town in Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province. Located about 60 kilometers from the center of Kon Tum city, Mang Den is known as the “second Da Lat” of the Central Highlands.
Majestic, peaceful scenery at Pa Sy waterfall.
“But for me, it’s not like that. Mang Den has a very different beauty compared to Da Lat. As a land of “seven lakes, three waterfalls” with primeval forests, waterfalls, and a cool climate, Mang Den gives people who live in urban areas all year round a comfortable, pleasant feeling, reducing stress after tiring working days,” Nguyen Tran Nha Huyen, from Hue and currently living in Da Nang , shared with Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Magazine.
This 9X girl has been to many places in Vietnam, each place has its own beauty. This girl likes to travel to provinces/countries that have developed tourism to use good services, or places that have not developed tourism strongly, still have rustic features, full of nature's gifts like Mang Den.
Returning from her trip to Mang Den, Huyen felt: “The people here are wonderful, from the bus station, hotel to restaurants, cafes… you will meet kind people. Everyone should come to Mang Den once - a place to stop and receive peace”.
Fresh air in Mang Den.
It had been a long time since Huyen had been to a place in Vietnam that made her feel comfortable. In Mang Den, there was “nothing much” – no service, no soliciting, no bargaining, and no need to think about where to go or what to eat (quite a few options).
“Everything is gentle and the fresh air makes me not have to think about my current job, everything happens slowly like the way people there live. I travel for experience, not just to check-in, not for commerce, so everything described is true,” Huyen said.
With the criteria of relaxing, sightseeing and immersing in nature, Huyen's group did not move much and chose to chill in Mang Den. The tourists went to Dak Ke lake, pine forest, Kon Bring village, Pa Sy waterfall, Khanh Lam pagoda.
People call Mang Den the land of “seven lakes, three waterfalls” associated with the legend of how the god Pling created this place. The seven lakes include Toong Ly Leng, Toong Ziu, Toong Zo Ri, Toong Sang, Toong Po, Toong Dam and Dak Ke. The three waterfalls are Pa Sy, Dak Ke and Dak Pne.
The streets are beautiful photo angles.
As a foodie, on every trip, Huyen tries all the specialties before returning home, otherwise she will regret it. Coming to Mang Den, she tried many delicious dishes such as grilled chicken, bamboo rice, hot pot, BBQ, Lanh's mushroom porridge, Akay rice noodles, Hai's intestines...
“Kon Plong grilled chicken is one of the 50 famous specialties of Vietnam. Kon Plong Lam rice is cooked from sticky rice soaked with pandan leaves, so it has a fragrant taste, firm but sticky, rich but not hard, and you can eat it without getting bored,” Huyen revealed.
Sharing more about her travel interests, Huyen said that her personal travel is to not visit the same place twice, the world is too big to experience. She likes to taste the local food of the places she visits, so she tries almost everything she travels.
Huyen went to Mang Den for 3 days.
