Regarding the COVID-19 epidemic situation today , the Ministry of Health said that from 4:00 p.m. on April 19 to 4:00 p.m. on April 20, the country recorded 2,461 cases, continuing to increase in the past 24 hours. This is the day with the highest number of cases in more than half a year.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, Vietnam has had 11,538,248 infections, ranking 13th out of 230 countries and territories, while with the rate of infections per 1 million people, Vietnam ranks 121st out of 230 countries and territories (on average, there are 116,603 infections per 1 million people).

During the day, 245 more patients were declared cured, bringing the total number of cured cases to 10,615,987. The number of patients on oxygen is 109, of which 80 are on oxygen through a mask, 8 are on high-flow oxygen therapy (HFNC), and 21 are on invasive mechanical ventilation, an increase of 7 cases compared to the previous day.
For more than 3 months, our country has not recorded any COVID-19 patient deaths. The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Vietnam to date is 43,186 cases, accounting for 0.4% of the total number of infections. The total number of deaths ranks 26/230 territories, the number of deaths per 1 million people ranks 141/230 countries and territories in the world .
On April 19, 4,420 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were injected. To date, Vietnam has administered more than 266.1 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
Faced with the increasing number of infections, the Ministry of Health recommends focusing on promoting vaccination, prioritizing the protection of high-risk groups at risk of severe complications and death from COVID-19.
