According to the announcement of digital travel platform Agoda, Vietnamese tourists increasingly favor short-term travel trends. In particular, Ho Chi Minh City unexpectedly surpassed many destinations to enter the top list of choices for hotel bookings in the first 5 months of 2025.
Considered the "city that never sleeps", Ho Chi Minh City is the perfect destination for those who want to recharge their batteries in just one night. With diverse street food flavors and vibrant nightlife, Ho Chi Minh City is always full of energy on every corner.
In the first 5 months of this year, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed more than 3.12 million international visitors - an increase of 40.2%, more than 15 million domestic visitors - an increase of 7.7% over the same period in 2024.

With reasonable costs and no complicated planning required, Ho Chi Minh City is the perfect choice to enjoy a short break without any worries.
Not only has Ho Chi Minh City suddenly risen to the top position in the choice of short-term trips for hotel bookers, but Hanoi has also "caused a fever".
The latest data collected by Agoda from accommodation searches conducted from April 1 to May 20 with check-in dates from August 30 to September 3 shows that the number of accommodation searches in Hanoi increased by a staggering 4,418% compared to the same period last year. The surprising explanation is that tourists from all over the country flocked to the capital to visit and watch the military parade on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.
Search statistics also show that for the upcoming September 2nd holiday, Vietnamese people have significantly more holiday plans as the total number of searches for travel increased by 104%, domestic travel increased by 135%, and international travel increased by 72%.
The next most searched destinations are Da Nang, Vung Tau and Da Lat.
According to Agoda, the trend of short-term travel makes it easier for travelers to explore nearby destinations, cultural hubs and less popular locations.
Mr. Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director of Agoda Vietnam, commented that with diverse natural landscapes and easy travel between cities, Vietnam offers opportunities for tourists to explore many destinations even when busy.
According to the General Statistics Office, in the first 5 months of 2025, international visitors to Vietnam reached 9.2 million, an increase of 21.3% over the same period last year. Favorable visa policies, tourism promotion programs, and activities to celebrate major national holidays have contributed to attracting more international visitors to Vietnam.
