Support for poor and near-poor households

Therefore, if the poor and near-poor are examined and treated with health insurance cards, it will help them reduce the financial burden on their families when they get sick or have health problems.

To integrate the poor into life

Not only a material value, health insurance policy is also a spiritual support that helps many people have the motivation and confidence to overcome illness and integrate into life.

Being poor, both mother and son Dang Thi Dung (born in 1951, Trung Nghia 1, Nghia Ninh commune, Dong Hoi city) were supported with health insurance cards. Ms. Dung said that she is old and in poor health, her son (born in 1987) has a serious illness, has to go to the doctor regularly for medical examination and treatment at high costs, if she did not have a health insurance card, she would not know where to turn. Now, her family no longer worries much when going to medical facilities for regular medical examinations because they have health insurance. Her son is also confident and makes efforts to overcome his illness...

The poor have access to quality health services.

Thanks to health insurance, many poor and near-poor people have the conditions to treat serious illnesses, reducing the economic burden on their families. Ms. Le Thi Ly (born in 1956, in village 5, Loc Ninh commune, Dong Hoi city) has poor health and is constantly sick, so she often goes to the doctor for examination and treatment. In addition, Ms. Ly also has a younger sister, Bui Thi Nguyet, who has a mental illness and often has to take medicine for treatment.

“I have both bronchial asthma and kidney dialysis at Hue Central Hospital and Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi three times a week; my sister also regularly visits medical facilities. As a poor household, without health insurance, my sister and I would not be able to access quality medical services or prolong our lives. With the attention of the local government and sectors, and health insurance covering 100% of medical expenses, even though our illnesses are serious and life is still difficult, my sisters and I are somewhat reassured and try harder in our treatment to improve our lives,” Ms. Ly shared.

Join hands for the poor

To help the poor and near-poor access quality health services, contributing to ensuring fairness and efficiency in health care for the people, the Social Insurance (SI) of Region 16 has implemented many solutions to develop health insurance participants, especially those in poor and near-poor households.

S&D Company Limited, one of the accompanying units, supports the program of giving health insurance cards to the poor.

Accordingly, from the beginning of 2025, Social Insurance Region 16 organized a launching ceremony for the program "Giving social insurance books and health insurance cards to people in difficult circumstances and bringing a warm Tet to the poor - Spring At Ty 2025". This is an activity to spread the social security policies of the Party and the State; mobilize the extensive participation of civil servants, public employees, and workers in the entire social insurance sector and the social community in giving social insurance books and health insurance cards to people in difficult circumstances, including: People who do not have health insurance cards and are newly escaped from poverty, people in near-poor households, people with an average living standard who have not participated in social insurance, health insurance and people in other difficult and disadvantaged circumstances.

Responding to the program, the whole province has mobilized nearly 850 million VND. The total mobilized funds have been allocated by the Social Insurance of Region 16 to purchase health insurance cards and social insurance books based on the review of the number of people in difficult circumstances who need support.

According to statistics, up to now, the whole province has 25,672 people from poor households with health insurance cards, reaching the rate of 100% of the poor having health insurance cards. People from poor households are given free health insurance cards and enjoy 100% of the cost of medical examination and treatment at the right place.

Deputy Director of Social Insurance Region 16 Nguyen Minh Tuan said that the purpose of the program "Giving social insurance books and health insurance cards to people in difficult circumstances" is to receive the cooperation and contribution of the social community so that more and more people can participate in social insurance and receive health care through the health insurance regime. Thereby, spreading the humanity, humanity and sharing of social insurance and health insurance policies in the community. “With the desire to contribute a part of the budget to support people in difficult circumstances to receive health insurance cards, creating motivation for them to strive to rise up and be confident in life, in recent years, the unit has accompanied the program of giving social insurance and health insurance books to the poor organized by the Social Insurance of Region 16. In 2025, the unit supported the program with a budget of 50 million VND. Spreading this good gesture, in the coming time, we will continue to accompany, draw from the unit's welfare resources to support, contribute to helping, and entrusting faith in life to disadvantaged people in society", Chairman of the Trade Union of S&D Company Limited Truong Chien Vu shared.
