The Mekong sub-region, comprising Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand, is known as a region with great development potential and an important strategic position. It is also one of the few sub-regions that has a combination of many cooperation mechanisms, including internal cooperation among sub-regional countries and cooperation between sub-regional countries and external partners.

In recent years, the Mekong sub-region has faced challenges due to many reasons, both objective and subjective, requiring a review and assessment of the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms as well as the search for solutions and plans to adapt to the new situation. In that context, the Mekong International Forum 2025 with the theme "Building sustainable partnerships for the future of the Mekong sub-region" was organized to provide ideas, initiatives and specific solutions, contributing to the common efforts for a stable and prosperous Mekong sub-region.

The Forum was attended by more than 20 domestic and international speakers and a large number of delegates from ministries, branches, universities, research institutes, diplomatic agencies and international organizations... With 4 discussion sessions (Reviewing partnerships in the Mekong sub-region; Cooperation priorities of partners; Interests and expectations of sub-regional countries with partnerships; Some new directions for the future), the Forum focused on re-evaluating existing partnership mechanisms, clarifying policy priorities of international partners and expectations of sub-regional countries, exchanging and seeking new directions for Mekong sub-regional cooperation.

The forum will be an opportunity to share information, assess the current situation, identify challenges and propose solutions, thereby contributing to improving the effectiveness of cooperation and promoting sustainable development in the sub-region.
