On the afternoon of February 5 (26th of Lunar calendar), the construction of Nguyen Hue Flower Street (HCMC) was basically completed, ready to welcome tourists to visit and enjoy from the night of the 28th of the Lunar New Year. After more than 3 weeks of construction, Nguyen Hue flower street has appeared, with a large and elaborate scale with many grand scenes full of spring colors. Nguyen Hue Flower Street is designed to be 600m long, in which the most prominent is the pair of giant dragon mascots called "Luong Long Trieu Lien" which is 100% completed, with a length of 100m, this is the record-breaking mascot at Nguyen Hue Flower Street with the longest size ever. Dozens of workers are rushing to complete the final stages such as planting flowers, decorating mid- and miniature landscapes, and cleaning up completed areas to wait for the opening time to welcome visitors. Right at the entrance of the flower street are two large dragons called "Lương Long Triều Liên" (two dragons facing the lotus). The dragons' mouths hold a pearl with a diameter of 50cm, simulated with opaque mica plastic, containing a light inside. The bodies of the two dragons are intertwined to create a beautiful and airy decorative ceiling. In particular, this year the giant dragon mascot is not just a static shape like previous years, the dragon's head is designed to move flexibly, and also makes a sound like a roar. Mr. Tuan Minh, representative of the Nguyen Hue flower street mascot design unit, said that the unit had come up with the design idea since May, after passing many rounds of selection, his unit's idea was approved by the organizing committee. "With the desire to create a special mascot that is completely different from previous ideas, this year we want the mascot to be more vivid in both image and sound, more realistic so that people and visitors have an impressive and unforgettable experience when visiting the flower street", Mr. Minh shared. The flower street is still not open to the public, and is surrounded by fences and security. Many tourists still come to check in and take pictures from the outside. Ms. Hoang Thi Bich Duyen took the opportunity to check-in at the flower street before the opening day. She said that this year is a special year when the mascot is designed vividly, an impressive highlight for the city's residents as well as foreign tourists to admire and join in the atmosphere of welcoming the traditional Tet holiday in Vietnam. "This year's flower street is designed with unique images, typical of many regions across the country, stretching along Nguyen Hue walking street. The colorful flower street signaling the coming of spring makes me look forward to Tet even more," Ms. Bich Duyen shared. Some miniature landscapes are being rushed to completion by workers, dozens of types of flowers of various sizes and colors are used to decorate the flower street. Mr. Duong Anh Duc - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee surveyed the flower street and checked the construction progress before the opening day.
The grand scenes such as "Spring Flower Dragon Boat", "Nine Dragon Gate", "Spring Festival" and "Glass Clouds"... have clearly revealed their shapes. In particular, the highlight in the middle of the flower street that attracts the attention of many people is the "Great Bodhi tree" plated with 24K gold, 3.6m high, weighing 1,168 kg.
