The first phone with water cooling

Redmagic has just officially launched the new gaming phone model RedMagic 11 Pro+ and 11 Pro in China. These are the company's latest flagship models, equipped with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor with a unique highlight in the liquid cooling system.

Both come with an integrated active cooling fan and a liquid metal VC vapor chamber, but the Pro+ also adds a pulsating water cooling engine for better temperature control.

Unlike the passive vapor chambers that have become popular on high-end Android models in recent years, the system uses ceramic micropumps to actively circulate liquid inside the phone. The design of the phone also shows off this technology, with a transparent ring that allows users to see the liquid moving inside.

The event marks the first time the technology has appeared on a commercial phone, except for a device introduced by OnePlus in 2023. Another big highlight is the battery with a capacity of up to 8,000 mAh, and support for 80W fast wired charging.

This is even larger than the 7,500 mAh battery on recent Xiaomi and Oppo models. Meanwhile, the 11 Pro+ version has a 7,500 mAh battery but supports 120W fast wired charging and 80W wireless charging.

Both devices are equipped with a 6.85-inch AMOLED BOE X10 display, 1.5K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. The phone also has a front camera hidden under the screen and a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The RedMagic 11 Pro series in particular has a screen-to-body ratio of 95.3% and an ultra-thin bezel of only 1.25mm.

In terms of camera system, both have a 50 MP main camera and a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera on the back. On the front, the device is equipped with a 16 MP camera hidden under the screen for selfies and video calls.

Other specs include a 3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi 7 support, NFC, an infrared port on the back, three microphones, dual stereo speakers, and IPX8 water resistance. The devices run RedMagic OS 11 with many built-in AI features, are 8.9mm thick, and weigh 230g.

The RedMagic 11 Pro comes in two color options, Dark Knight and Silver Winged War God, with prices starting at 4,999 yuan (about $700 ) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage version. The company said the global launch schedule will be announced on November 3.
