Mr. Dat's story made the members of the program "Thirst for Life" choke up. He had a simple and warm start to life. In 2021, he got married and welcomed his first daughter. However, disagreements in life caused the marriage to break up at the end of 2024. He chose to raise his 3-year-old daughter, even though he knew he would face many difficulties ahead.

The sadness had not yet subsided when, 6 months ago, Dat's mother had a traffic accident, paralyzed all four limbs, and is still in a coma. Last August, his father passed away due to complications from liver disease. After his father's death, Dat's younger brother, Phan Van Tien (21 years old), had to put his second year of university on hold to take his place at the hospital to take care of his mother.

The youngest sister Phan Thi Nhu Y (5 years old) is still in preschool, Dat also takes care of her. With an unstable seasonal worker's salary, it is not enough to cover the medical expenses for her mother, up to 40 million VND per month, along with the small house stuck in the demolition planning, only 2m wide, no one buys it, and it cannot be mortgaged.

In the midst of seemingly deadlocked days, the program "Thirst for Life" came to help, bringing with it many kind hearts, reaching out to share, with a total amount of support for Mr. Dat's family of 280 million VND. After reaching an agreement with the family and local authorities, the program's Organizing Committee proposed a plan to use the support money in a practical and transparent way: 150 million VND was used to pay off the debt at the company where Mr. Dat was working; 30 million VND to pay bank interest and cover daily living expenses; 100 million VND was saved as a reserve fund to cover long-term hospital treatment costs for his mother.

“Thank you to the Aspiration to Live program, thank you to the benefactors for giving my children and I another chance to live. Thanks to everyone, my daughter and siblings will continue to go to school. In the past few days, I thought many times that I could not hold on, but today, thanks to everyone, I feel like I am no longer alone" - Mr. Dat emotionally shared.

A timely outstretched hand, a timely sharing heart will become a warm fire, warming difficult lives, giving them the opportunity to revive and rise up. The 17th year of the “Aspiration to Live” journey will continue to connect kind hearts, so that warmth and faith can spread throughout the community.
