Especially since November 18, in Gia Lai province, heavy rainfall from upstream has caused the water level at Luat Le 1 bridge (Km01+606) and Luat Le 2 bridge (Km02+729) to rise abnormally, with strong currents, directly threatening the structure of the span and the pier foot.
Faced with this situation, on November 19, Nghia Binh Railway Joint Stock Company activated an emergency plan, blocked the Dieu Tri - Quy Nhon section and sent a freight train to protect the bridge. According to the technical plan, Luat Le 1 Bridge consists of 2 spans, loaded with 2 sleeper cars, Luat Le 2 Bridge consists of 1 span, loaded with 1 sleeper car, each car weighs 44.5 tons.
Also on the afternoon of November 19, when the water level continued to pour into Dieu Tri station, the level of flooding on the rails was high, the railway industry organized the evacuation of 3 trains and passengers on SE1/SE3/SE7 to neighboring stations such as Binh Dinh and Phuoc Nhon. Here, passengers were served free meals and drinks.
Vietnam Railways Corporation said that the floods and rains continue and are unpredictable. Railway management units in the Central and Central Highlands regions are focusing, urgently mobilizing maximum forces and mechanical equipment, coordinating with units in the industry and local authorities to overcome problems to restore train operations as soon as possible.
While waiting for the problem to be resolved, the railway industry had to temporarily suspend many trains on the North-South route and related branch lines to ensure the safety of passengers. Affected passengers are supported to refund or return tickets within a maximum period of 30 days, calculated from the date printed on the ticket. Ticket refunds can be made online on the website dsvn.vn without having to go to the station as before.
