DT606 is the only route through the communes of Avuong, Tay Giang and Hung Son. The starting point of this route is the intersection with Ho Chi Minh Road (Avuong commune), the end point connects to the Tay Giang Sub-border Gate area (Hung Son commune). Heavy rains from November 15th until now have continued to cause severe landslides on the positive and negative slopes.
According to statistics from the Da Nang Infrastructure Maintenance Board (under the Department of Construction), the positive slope of DT606 route through Hung Son commune was eroded, causing traffic jams at 3 points. On November 18, the entire route had 7 locations where the positive slope had re-eroded and the management unit cleared the soil and rocks to open a lane. The negative slope at km25+600 (Tay Giang commune) after the landslide was filled with rocks to encroach on the longitudinal ditch to temporarily open a lane on the afternoon of November 17.
Heavy rains caused by cold air and other adverse weather conditions continue to cause damage to National Highway 40B. The unit managing the section from km0+000 to km85+850, Quang Nam Road Construction and Management Joint Stock Company, said that the slopes had collapsed at 6 locations.
In particular, the landslide from above washed away the temporary culvert that was installed (with stone gabion embankment) to temporarily open the road at km82+500 (Tra Tan commune). The main culvert of the road at the above mentioned route was already damaged by the rains caused by storm No. 12.

The representative of the management unit of National Highway 40B, section km85+850 - km141+000 informed that the landslide occurred at section km110+600 (Nam Tra My commune) causing traffic jam and has been cleared to ensure traffic flow in one lane. However, traffic jams continued to occur nearly 9km to the west, still in Nam Tra My commune.
Not long after temporarily clearing two heavily eroded spots in Phuoc Hiep commune, traffic on Highway 14E was cut off again. The cause was heavy rain that caused dozens of serious landslides in the slopes of Phuoc Tra, Phuoc Hiep and Kham Duc communes.
According to the Department of Construction, these traffic jam locations had previously been handed over for the project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 14E (section km15+270 - km89+700).
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Phuc, Deputy Director of Project Management Board 4 (project management unit) said that continuous heavy rain since November 16 caused landslides at 7 locations in the XD02 package and 3 landslides in the XD03 package. Of which, 3 serious landslides occurred in Phuoc Tra and Phuoc Hiep communes with route km59+100, breaking the old road surface; the volume of landslides at route km59+150 was about more than 100,000m3; route km66+400 had a landslide volume of about 20,000m3.

Engineer Pham Vu Dung, Deputy Executive Director of the XD02 package (Project Management Board 4) said that the contractor's crawler excavator workers were leveling and removing landslides to ensure traffic on Highway 14E. Many landslide sites are still not accessible for full and detailed statistics.
Through observation, the hilly land along the route has many cracked spots, posing a high risk of landslides. Therefore, the current landslide repair work must ensure the safety of the workers; especially focusing on blocking and controlling people from passing through.
According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Phuc, to ensure the safety of people and vehicles, Project Management Board 4 has requested the People's Committees of Phuoc Tra and Phuoc Hiep communes to notify people not to be subjective when passing through landslide sites. The heavy rain situation in the area is still very complicated, the risk of landslides is high, the project management unit has directed the contractor to carry out repairs to open the road as soon as the weather is favorable.
Landslide on Ho Chi Minh road, Truong Son Dong
Road Management Area III said that prolonged heavy rains have caused many landslides on the Ho Chi Minh and Truong Son Dong roads.
Specifically, at Km 4A+700 and Km 40+200 of Truong Son Dong road through Thanh My commune (Da Nang), a landslide occurred on the slope, a large amount of rock and soil fell down and covered the road, causing traffic congestion. On the eastern branch of Ho Chi Minh road through the city, there were also many landslides.
Along with that, at Km 1355+850, the positive slope continued to slide after the flood at the end of October. At Km 1325+800, Km 1355 of the eastern branch of Ho Chi Minh Highway, a landslide also occurred on the positive slope, causing a complete traffic jam. The landslide damaged the concrete retaining wall on the positive slope, collapsing about 20m long, and the hard guardrail on the negative slope collapsed about 30m long. These landslides caused a complete traffic jam from Thanh My commune to Kham Duc commune. Accordingly, hundreds of vehicles were stuck on the route.
According to Road Management Area III, there is still heavy rain on Ho Chi Minh and Truong Son Dong routes, with the risk of landslides recurring.
