When the problem is no longer industry specific
Vietnam’s strategic goals such as becoming a developed industrial country, building a digital economy, achieving net zero emissions by 2050, or developing the semiconductor industry into a spearhead all require breakthrough, comprehensive, and interdisciplinary solutions. For example, to master chip technology, it is necessary to coordinate smoothly between materials engineering, electronics, automation, and investment attraction strategies. Similarly, the Net Zero goal can only be achieved by synchronously integrating solutions for renewable energy, circular economy, green agriculture, and environmental technology.
Realizing this, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - VNU-HCM is actively developing highly interdisciplinary training programs, opening 5 new interdisciplinary majors in the English-taught program, including Microchip Design, Renewable Energy, Digital Biotechnology, Circular Economy and Digital Business. These programs are part of the strategy to train high-quality human resources, reflecting the spirit of Resolution 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.

International Integration: Not Just English, But Global Thinking
Along with interdisciplinary thinking, the ability to integrate internationally is the key to opening many doors of opportunity in the "flat world". The presence of the world's leading technology corporations in Vietnam (Intel, Apple, Samsung, Boeing, LG...) requires human resources that are not only good at their profession but also have good communication skills in English, can work effectively in a multicultural environment and quickly adapt to international standards.
Students are practicing in the laboratory.
With the desire to help students confidently communicate and connect in academics and work, in 2025, the University of Science and Technology decided to raise the English entrance standards: requiring candidates to achieve at least IELTS 6.0 or equivalent for the English Teaching and Learning program and the Advanced program. In addition, the school continues to convert IELTS English certificates into English subject scores in the high school graduation exam scores and high school academic performance for admission combinations that use English. This approach also creates conditions for candidates to focus on reviewing the remaining two subjects in the admission combination.
To get advice on choosing the right major and grasp admission information, we invite parents and students to the BACH KHOA OPEN DAY Admissions Consulting Festival 2025.
