Vietnam women's futsal team tries to WIN HONG KONG, PHILIPPINES

From the end of 2024 until now, the Vietnamese women's futsal team has been carefully preparing for important goals in 2025, especially at the 2025 Asian Futsal Championship held in China (taking place from May 6 to 17). Before competing in the continental arena, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang and his team trained in Japan and had two valuable matches, including a test match with the host country's women's futsal team. Recently, the Vietnamese girls continued to have a friendly match with the Chinese women's futsal team. "Vietnam plays against Japan with a fast, high-intensity and diverse style of play. The 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship has 12 teams, divided equally into 3 groups, playing a round robin to calculate points and rank. The top two teams in each group (6 teams) and the 2 third-place teams with the best results will advance to the quarterfinals. The Vietnamese women's futsal team is in Group B with Hong Kong (playing on May 7), the Philippines (May 9) and Iran (May 11). Coach Dinh Hoang assessed that the Iranian women's futsal team (ranked 9th in FIFA, ranked 2nd in Asia) is the strongest and is the leading candidate for a ticket to the quarterfinals. The coaching staff has also researched and come up with the best plan when facing Iran. "The Hong Kong and Philippines teams are on par with Vietnam. We will have a chance to win. The team's first goal is to get through the group stage and go as far as possible," Mr. Hoang added.

WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF WINNING A WORLD CUP TICKET?

Not only stopping at reaching the Asian quarter-finals, the big goal of the Vietnamese women's futsal team is to win a ticket to the Women's Futsal World Cup (held for the first time) at the end of this year in the Philippines. Accordingly, the top 3 teams with the best results in the Asian tournament will participate in the biggest playground on the planet for women's futsal.

Southeast Asian football has 4 representatives participating in the competition: Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia. The Philippines has secured a place in the 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup as the host team. Thailand is a strong candidate for a place in the Women's Futsal World Cup. The Golden Temple team is currently the Asian representative with the best position on the FIFA rankings, ranked 5th in the world . Meanwhile, the Vietnamese women's futsal team, with remarkable progress in recent times, is also considered to have a chance to compete. At the 2024 Southeast Asian women's futsal tournament, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang and his team broke the dominance of the Thais. Thuy Trang and her teammates won 2-1 in the final, thereby winning the regional championship. According to Mr. Hoang, the victory over Thailand and the 2024 Southeast Asian futsal championship is an affirmation of the expertise and mettle of the Vietnamese women's futsal team.

Huynh Nhu is temporarily absent from the Vietnam national team.

The Vietnamese women's football team under the leadership of coach Mai Duc Chung will gather in Hanoi from May 6 to prepare for important international missions in 2025, including: Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers, AFF Cup 2025 and SEA Games 33. Notably, striker Huynh Nhu and members of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club are not on the list that coach Mai Duc Chung has just announced. Because the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club is focusing on preparing for the match against the Chinese team Wuhan Jiangda in the semi-finals of the Asian Cup 1 (May 21).

Replacing striker Huynh Nhu, coach Mai Duc Chung gave a chance to young talent Ngoc Minh Chuyen. The striker of Thai Nguyen T&T team won the title of Top Scorer of the 2023 U.19 Southeast Asian tournament and played outstandingly in youth tournaments.
