General Secretary To Lam meets with Chairman of the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev

At the meeting, Chairman of the Senate Maulen Ashimbayev warmly welcomed the State visit to Kazakhstan by General Secretary To Lam and his wife along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation; and congratulated Vietnam on successfully organizing the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

Chairman of the Senate Maulen Ashimbayev emphasized the significance of the first visit by the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992; affirmed that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to the traditional friendship and good multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, a reliable and important partner of Kazakhstan in Southeast Asia.

Recalling President Ho Chi Minh's visit to Kazakhstan in 1959, Senate Chairman Maulen Ashimbayev emphasized that General Secretary To Lam's visit this time is a continuation of the tradition of good relations between the two countries and expressed his belief that the visit will open up promising cooperation opportunities for both sides.

General Secretary To Lam expressed his joy at leading a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on a State visit to Kazakhstan, a loyal friend of Vietnam; and was moved by the respectful, thoughtful, and warm welcome given to the delegation by the leaders and people of Kazakhstan when President Tokayev welcomed the delegation at the airport and then had this meeting.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam sincerely thanked Kazakhstan for its wholehearted support for Vietnam in the past cause of national liberation and in the current cause of national construction and development.

The General Secretary emphasized that the visit comes at a historic time when Vietnam celebrates the 50th anniversary of the victory on April 30, 1975 and Kazakhstan celebrates the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism. Without the victory over fascism, there would be no August Revolution and no Vietnam today.

General Secretary To Lam congratulated the great achievements that the people of Kazakhstan have made under the leadership of President Tokayev and the Kazakh leaders with a strategic vision for socio-economic development and increasingly enhanced international position.

The General Secretary said that Vietnam wishes to exchange experiences with Kazakhstan to complement each other for mutual development and that the cooperative relationship will be a bridge for the two countries to the two continents of Europe and Asia, contributing to peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

The two sides expressed their delight at the positive development of political relations between Vietnam and Kazakhstan in recent times with high political trust and active exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially at high levels.

Emphasizing that parliamentary cooperation is one of the important pillars to promote bilateral relations, the two leaders were pleased to see that cooperation between the two countries' National Assemblies has achieved many positive results with the two sides maintaining high-level and all-level contacts, both bilaterally and at multilateral forums. Economic, trade and investment cooperation has seen positive changes. Cooperation in other areas has also achieved many important results.

General Secretary To Lam affirmed that with common aspirations and development goals and vast potential, the relationship between the two countries will certainly continue to develop effectively, substantially and reach new heights.

Recalling the visit to Vietnam 10 years ago, with deep impressions of the heroic country of Vietnam and the hardworking and dynamic Vietnamese people, Chairman of the Senate Maulen Ashimbayev congratulated Vietnam on its strong socio-economic development achievements; emphasizing that the new stature of the relationship reflects the strong development and strategic connection between the two countries, which is of great significance at a time when both countries are entering a new stage of development and the world situation is changing; affirming that the Senate of Kazakhstan will actively support and promote the implementation of the cooperation directions agreed upon by the leaders of the two sides.

Considering the cooperation between the Senate of Kazakhstan and the National Assembly of Vietnam to be extremely important, the two leaders agreed to promote cooperation, promote delegation exchanges via parliamentary channels; strengthen coordination in supervising and urging the effective implementation of cooperation agreements signed by the two governments, in order to develop the Vietnam-Kazakhstan friendship in a practical and effective manner; strengthen cooperation in personnel training, development policies and party building, and youth agencies to enhance mutual understanding.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam conveyed the regards and invitation of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to the Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan to visit Vietnam at a suitable time. Senate Chairman Maulen Ashimbayev also respectfully invited National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to visit Kazakhstan.
