Vietnamese students won Gold Medal at International Mathematical Olympiad

TPO - On the morning of April 26, the Ministry of Education and Training informed that all 6 students participating in the 2nd Turkmenistan Mathematical Olympiad won Gold Medals.

At the invitation of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Education and Training has requested the Institute of Mathematics, under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology to form a delegation of students to participate in the 2nd International Mathematical Olympiad for High School Students, Turkmenistan. The competition will take place from April 21-26 in the capital Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

The Institute of Mathematics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology established a delegation of 6 students to participate in the exam, led by Mr. Nguyen Chu Gia Vuong, Institute of Mathematics.

The members selected to participate in this competition are those ranked 7th to 12th in the Olympic Team Selection Test. These students were not in the official squad for the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad held in Australia.

6 students won Gold medals including:

Nguyen Tri Hau, an 11th grade student at Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted, Quang Nam province, scored 40 points and won a Gold medal.

Nguyen Tri Hien, an 11th grade student at Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted, Quang Nam province, scored 40 points and won a Gold medal.

Nguyen Phuc Nguyen, 11th grade student, Newton Secondary and High School, Hanoi, scored 40 points and won a Gold medal.

Tran Quang Nhat, a 12th grade student at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang city, scored 35 points and won a Gold medal.

Lai Gia Khai, 11th grade student, High School for the Gifted, Hanoi National University of Education, scored 34 points and won a Gold medal.

Vu Viet Ha, a 12th grade student at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, Hai Duong province, scored 31 points and won a Gold medal.

The Turkmenistan International Mathematical Olympiad is hosted by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. The competition aims to nurture students' talents and abilities, strengthen friendship, develop progressive thinking and open-mindedness of young people.

The exam consists of 5 problems, each worth 10 points, to be completed in 5 hours. According to the regulations of the Organizing Committee, prizes will be awarded to 50% of the participating candidates, with the ratio of Gold: Silver: Bronze medals being 1:2:3. In addition, students who achieve the maximum score on a problem will receive a certificate of merit from the Organizing Committee.
