The five gold medals won by the Vietnamese sports delegation today came from Wushu and Athletics. Athletes in these two disciplines had a brilliant day of competition, bringing home prestigious gold medals for the Vietnamese sports delegation on December 15th at the 33rd SEA Games.

The Vietnamese Wushu team made an impressive start by winning two gold medals, with Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy winning in the women's 60kg Sanda event and Truong Van Chuong winning in the men's 80kg Sanda event.

Success followed success as the Vietnamese Athletics Team brought home a "hat-trick" of gold medals, thereby affirming the prowess and class of Vietnamese athletes on the track. In the women's 400m hurdles, Quách Thị Lan performed excellently, finishing first with a time of 56.82 seconds, winning the first individual gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games.

Shortly after, it was Nguyen Trung Cuong's turn to shine in his specialty event, the 3,000m steeplechase, and he won convincingly, finishing in 8 minutes and 55.32 seconds.
Finally, the Vietnamese Athletics Team's golden "hat-trick" was completed when "athletics queen" Nguyen Thi Oanh demonstrated her superior strength in the 10,000m event, finishing first with a time of 34 minutes 27 seconds 93.

With this result, Nguyen Thi Oanh officially surpassed her senior Nguyen Thi Huyen to become the most successful Vietnamese track and field athlete in the history of the SEA Games. Since her first appearance at the region's largest sporting event, Nguyen Thi Oanh has amassed a total of 15 medals, including 14 gold medals.
In addition, football also received good news when the Vietnam U23 team secured a convincing 2-0 victory against the Philippines U22 team in the semi-final, officially booking their place in the men's football final at the 33rd SEA Games.
Concluding the sixth day of competition, the Vietnamese sports delegation had won 40 gold medals, 47 silver medals, and 70 bronze medals. As of 10 PM on December 15th, the Vietnamese sports delegation had a total of 157 medals, ranking third on the SEA Games 33 medal table.
