Athletes from sports delegations coming to China to attend the 19th ASIAD encountered an interesting image that had never appeared in continental and world-class sports events. That was the participation of robot dogs on the field.

These "colleagues" are a great support for the organizers in athletics. Robot dogs are assigned to serve in the discus throwing event, with the task of "running" into the field to pick up the discus and return it to the assembly point after the athletes have finished throwing. According to CNN Indonesia, each robot dog can travel up to 7.2 km in a day of competition.

In sports tournaments, this job is usually reserved for the organizing committee's logistics staff. By using robot dogs, the 19th Asian Games organizing committee can reduce the number of people working on support tasks for some individual events, in the context of the Games having many sports taking place at the same time.

In addition, the staff controlling the robot dogs do not need to enter the competition area. This reduces the risk of accidents and incidents.

Outside the stadium, the robot dogs will also be deployed in other locations during the 19th Asian Games, such as assisting in daily inspections and monitoring at train stations. Another team of robot dogs will also be deployed to cheer to the rhythm of the 19th Asian Games official song, 'The Love We Share', in public areas.

The appearance of robot dogs is also one of the promotional measures of the host of ASIAD 19.

" Our robots can take on dangerous, repetitive and tedious jobs. Through the Asian Games, we want to show that there are indeed quite a few high-tech companies in Hangzhou, especially robotics companies ," said a representative of the company that developed and supplied the robot dogs for the 19th ASIAD.
