In an effort to improve the spiritual life and expand development opportunities for women in the highlands, the Ethnic Language Television Department - Vietnam Television (VTV5) in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province and the People's Committee of Binh Lieu commune organized the Quang Ninh Province Ethnic Minority Women's Football Tournament 2025 - VTV5 Cup. The event took place from December 3 to 7 at Huc Dong Football Field (Binh Lieu commune).

The tournament brings together 8 women's teams from Quang Ninh, Lao Cai and Tuyen Quang, competing in 2 groups, with a total of 15 matches taking place continuously over 5 days. Each team has 7 players on the field, bringing together strikers from the San Chi, Dao Thanh Y, Dao Thanh Phan, San Diu and Tay ethnic groups. Although it is a grassroots tournament, it is organized systematically, ensuring professionalism, fairness and safety for the athletes.
The 2025 Quang Ninh Province Ethnic Minority Women's Football Tournament - VTV5 Cup is organized with the aim of honoring the culture of ethnic minorities, encouraging highland women to confidently participate in community activities, promoting gender equality and spreading the spirit of healthy sports. This is also an activity to promote the mass sports movement and promote tourism in Binh Lieu - a place known as the "sleeping princess" of Quang Ninh with majestic natural scenery and rich cultural life.

The difference of the highland women's football tournament
The special feature of the tournament is that all players will compete in their national traditional costumes. The female players participating are of various ages and professions, from high school age to middle age. The opening and closing ceremonies will be broadcast live on VTV5, all matches will be broadcast live on VTV5 and VTVGo digital platforms.
The organizers believe that this year's tournament will become a strong driving force to promote the development of women's sports in mountainous areas in particular and sports in ethnic minority areas in general, while contributing to enhancing national pride and solidarity in the community of ethnic minorities in Vietnam.
